We are an intimate school offering a progressive alternative education. We support our students in building self-esteem and acquiring the competences needed for a happy and fulfilled life. When thinking about education, we do not limit ourselves to organizing subject lessons, we understand it more widely as a comprehensive development of the whole child, in which the process of discovering and developing one's strengths is a key element. Discover how your child can thrive at Szkola Otwarta.
Szkoła Otwarta (The Open School) is an small alternative elementary school located in the Saska Kępa residential district in Warsaw. The school employs a large number of passionate teachers who approach each student individually and in a non-standard way. The faculty constantly improve their qualifications. The main goals and mission of the Open School are: comprehensive child development, supporting talents, safe and friendly learning environment without aggression, empathy, openness to oneself, others and the world, and preparing children to function in the modern world. The school does not use grades or tests. The students are formally enrolled in home education, but instead of studying at home, they engage in workshops, projects and classes in the Open School. Formally, they are students of Z. and J. Moraczewski Private Primary School in Sulejówek, where at the end of each year they take exams in all the subjects and receive certificates.

Central to your child's school experience is the underlying curriculum taught in the classroom. "Curriculum" refers to both what is taught and how it's taught. When considering the different curricula outlined in the next few pages, keep in mind that few schools fall neatly into one category or another. Most schools' curricula comprise a blend of best practices drawn from multiple curriculum types. Having said that, most schools do have a general overall curriculum type. These are identified for each school on OurKids.net.
Primary Curriculum: Liberal ArtsSuch an approach to curriculum shares with traditional programs their emphasis on core knowledge-acquisition, but tends to borrow more best practices from the progressive approach. The goal isn't to prepare students for vocational life, but rather to encourage an appreciation of the benefits of education itself, including academic and personal development. There is an emphasis on knowledge acquisition as well as theoretical and academic learning, but the real focus is on cultivating the intellect.
Secondary Curriculum: Polish Curriculum (Ministry of National Eduction, MEN), Reggio EmiliaFocus |

We cordially invite you to our "Szkoły Otwarte" (Open School).
It is a response to the growing awareness of parents and their need for education close to life, in which man counts, not a system where the relationship is the basis of joyful education and in which the child is treated with due respect. Education that goes with the times and answers the important questions posed to us by the modern world. An education that prepares a child to fly out into the world.
We are particularly proud of our team, it is made up of inspirational personalities (enthusiasts, educators, teachers, educators, psychologists and globetrotters :-)) who love their fields and have a big heart to work with children. Staff is our largest resource.
For us, the "Open" school means:
We are waiting for you
Anna Kozicka and Magdalena Sulińska - two cool heads of Szkoły Otwarte
