The primary Vancouver school offers a stimulating bilingual education in Polish and English based on elements of both the Polish and Canadian educational systems, focusing on the best practices of each. It teaches in accordance with the Polish Ministry of education, while at the same time following the guidelines of the British Columbia Ministry of Education (in Canada). These are the same guidelines used to license schools in Vancouver, BC. The approach of the Primary Vancouver School is very child-centered: teachers focus on children’s most important needs—to be respected, to ask questions, to make mistakes, to be active, and to forge and develop independence. Teaching is conducted in both English and Polish, enabling children to acquire fluency in both languages. This also gives them the opportunity to continue their secondary education in either or both of these languages.
