British International School, Gdansk: This is an international school with English language teaching, which educates children from over 40 different countries, from 2.5 to 16 years of age. It offers education in kindergarten and primary school based on the National Curriculum of England and Wales, adapted for international schools, and the requirements of the Polish core curriculum. In kindergarten, it implements the British core curriculum: the language of instruction is English, and children are taught in three groups--babies (Nursery), for children aged 2.5-4, older kids (Reception)-for children aged 4-5 years, and class "0" for six-year-olds.
In primary school, children learn according to the British and Polish core curriculum, and classes are mainly conducted using the project method. All subjects, except foreign languages, are taught in English, and students are prepared for the 8th grade Polish exam. The subjects focuses particularly on are English (including English literature), math, and Polish. Of course, other subjects such as computer science, nature, and the social sciences are also taught. It's worth emphasizing that among these subjects there is a presentation, something which effectively develops creative thinking, teamwork, teaches self-presentation, and strengthens confidence. Studies are supplemented with a wide selection of extracurricular activities, including art, theater, foreign languages (e.g., Spanish, Russian, French, German, Mandarin), sports, music, and chess. Moreover, once a month the school organizes various trips for all students that expand the curriculum.
