About this Program

The Ottawa Rowing Club (ORC), Junior Development

  • Program
  • Age 12 - 18 (Coed)
  • Specialized in Rowing—offers 2 activities
  • 2 session dates to choose from

This program is designed to build the following character traits:

  • Physicality: Rowing is physically demanding and will challenge athletes physicality.
  • Self-regulation: Rowing is disciplined and requires some accountability to stay on track with training schedules and interact in a team environment.

Junior Development is the beginning of a tiered progression in Junior rowing. This program is designed for high school aged participants with no or limited experience to be introduced to the sport of rowing begin a pathway of lifelong rowing. This program feeds into Junior Crew and Junior Performance, which climb the progression into competitive and more regular rowing. 

Different from a typical summer camp, the Junior Development program runs all year round. Athletes can be registered for different seasons within the year, or commit to the full season. This encourages regular training, building into lifelong rowing.
