A refresher of English language fundamentals and concepts covered in the Grades 5, 6, and 7 curricula to prepare students entering Grades 6, 7, and 8 in September 2024.
Workshop Description: The reading/writing connection is the fundamental core of this workshop; to write, you must read. When students are engaged in writing their own texts, they begin to read as writers looking to discover how other authors craft their texts. When young writers think about ways to improve their own writing as they read published authors, they are learning to become better writers. During this workshop, your child will engage in a structured learning model focused on reading and writing strategies and skill practice. Students will gain greater confidence in their ability to read and write by discovering ways to improve their reading comprehension, applying strategies to advance their writing skills, and practicing oral skills to enhance their language learning and editing capabilities.
Important Schedule Notice: There will not be a workshop session on Monday, July 1st due to the Canada Day holiday.
