Our Leaders in Training Camp is perfect for youth between the ages of 13 and 15. It focuses on building confidence and developing teamwork and leadership abilities. Through multiple workshops on topics such as communication, group facilitation, program planning and preparedness, along with interactive debriefing sessions, participants move a step closer to job readiness. They gain an in-depth understanding of program planning and group facilitation, as well as basic childcare practices. This two-week program combines leadership-focused activities, hands-on workshops and recognized certifications. In the second week, participants apply what they’ve learned through a supervised volunteer placement. This provides real-world experience that strengthens their leadership abilities and prepares them for future opportunities both inside and outside of camp.
Volunteering is a major component. Youth in this camp are placed in ongoing Gee-Gees camps programs and matched with counsellors, to get hands-on working experience within a large team setting.
