Scouts Canada - Camp Samac located at 1711 Simcoe St. north in Oshawa, ON is now accepting registrations for their Day Camp and Residential Camp summer programs.
Camp Samac's co-ed summer programs are operated by Scouts Canada, but they are for ALL children in the communities we serve! Come join us for a wilderness experience in the heart of the city! Fun, adventure, learning new skills and creating memories! That is what Camp Samac promises to deliver to each camper. Whether it is your first time attending a scout camp or you are looking for the challenge of a Survival Camp, Camp Samac offers something for everyone.
Day camp is for youth ages 5 to 13 and has space for a maximum of 100 campers per week. Youth are placed according to age into a camper group supervised by trained counselors. Our daily activities are selected to build outdoor skills, self-confidence, respect for others and the environment, teamwork, and of course because they are fun.
We operate the Residential program as an outdoor experience sleeping in tents, cooking some meals over a campfire and learning to live amongst and with nature.
Survival Camp emphasizes development of outdoor skills, environmental awareness, and wilderness exploration. Campers will experience a more challenging wilderness program by tenting away from the main camp area.Completion of pioneering, watercraft, and team building challenges will provide rewards to teams and individuals. Survival Camp capacity is 18 youth per period who are divided into smaller working groups of five or six. Our daily program will be balanced between skills instruction, rewards based challenges, meal preparation,
and free time. Focus is on outdoor skills, trust, and teambuilding through activities such as hiking, canoeing, swimming, shelter building and survival challenges.
