This program is designed to build the following character traits:

  • Creativity: As an arts organization, NPCC provides a space where creative curiosity is encouraged, and participants get to experience the benefits of trying new ideas and techniques in the artwork they create.
  • Interpersonal skills: Through shared creative experiences, students learn to express their ideas, listen to others, and provide constructive feedback. Collaborative projects promote teamwork, encouraging students to work together.

This class is about learning to draw in a number of different styles. From realism to abstraction, participants are exposed to a different significant artist each week through a presentation and an inspiring reference subject. After samples of drawing style are practiced, students and are encouraged to apply the approach and create a composition in that style. Children will have fun exploring Picasso, Pacita Abad, Ch’ng Kiah Kian, Leonardo da Vinci, E.H. Shepard, Manabu Ikeda, Ian Murphy, Il Lee, Rembrandt, Jean-Louis Sauvat, and more! See how skills grow after this session! All materials are included.
