This program is designed to build the following character traits:

Creativity: As an arts organization, NPCC provides a space where creative curiosity is encouraged and participants get to experience the benefits of trying new ideas and techniques in the artwork they create.
Interpersonal skills: Through shared creative experiences, students learn to express their ideas, listen to others, and provide constructive feedback. Collaborative projects promote teamwork, encouraging students to work together and have fun!

Students learn to use a variety of drawing and painting materials such as soft pastels, conte, pencil, ink, acrylic paint and watercolour to build fine art skills. References will be provided for students to develop strengths in drawing both environmental subject matter (to build abilities in perspective, scale, depth and balance) and physical features, human and animal (to increase abilities in proportion, shape, line and shade). With this foundational instruction, fun and thoughtfully composed works in magnificent landscape and mixed media portraiture in a variety of styles will be explored. References to master works will be provided for inspiration as students are encouraged to recreate famous works in different styes and media. All materials are included.
