OUR KIDS review of Little Star Productions

Little Star camps and after-school programs give kids a creative, confidence-building performing arts experience. Experienced educators and theatre professionals teach all the fundamentals of musical theatre: acting, singing, voice, dance, character work, and collaboration with an ensemble. It’s rooted in founder Paul Louie’s 25-plus years of experience in theatre, mainly as a producer, with over 100 productions under his belt. His own kids have caught the performance bug, as yours will, too. After-school classes introduce kids as young as 4 to the stage, offering structured training throughout the school year. Summer camps let middle and high school kids spend all day immersed in stage arts, including playwriting and set design. Each camp becomes a community. Practice and imaginative play culminate in performances you’ll love. Parents are surprised and delighted with campers’ exponential growth through their time at Little Star.

    Director's Message

Paul's career is in the world of sales, working in both the computer and oil industries. But in 1995, a simple invitation from a friend to help out with a local show ignited a lifelong passion for theatre. That year marked Paul’s introduction to Theatre Etobicoke—a connection that would shape the course of his life and ultimately redefine his professional path.

In 2000, Paul officially took over Theatre Etobicoke, and over the past 25 years, he has produced more than 100 productions. His work spans an impressive range of comedies, dramas, and musicals, each reflecting his commitment to community theatre and the transformative power of live performance. Under his leadership, Theatre Etobicoke has continued to grow as a welcoming space for both emerging and experienced talent.

In 2018, Paul expanded his dedication to the arts by founding Little Star Productions, a youth musical theatre training program designed for performers aged 8 to 14. What began as a single location has since grown into three thriving sites—two in Etobicoke and one in Toronto. Through Little Star Productions, Paul has produced numerous youth musicals, offering young performers a supportive environment to develop their skills, confidence, and love for the stage. In the fall of 2023, Little Star Kids was established for kids 4-7 as an introduction to musical theatre, this program helps shape young minds with creativity and imagination - while exploring the wonderful world of live theatre.

Theatre is also a family affair for Paul. His two daughters are actively involved in the industry, participating both onstage and backstage. Their shared passion continues to inspire Paul’s work and strengthens his belief in the importance of accessible theatre education.

For more information on upcoming youth productions, check our the theatre and Kids tabs.
