(5) Overall experience

Our boys really love Gracefield Camp. The atmosphere is relaxed, welcoming, and fun. The staff and campers are supportive and caring. The food is delicious, and the facilities are always clean. Our kids love all the outdoor activities (swimming, rock climbing, wide games, canoeing, etc.). Having a day camp option means we can go to camp while the parents work from the cottage during the day and it feels like a vacation for all of us. It’s the first camp we signed up for!

(5) Reason for choosing the camp

The location of the camp is great. We stay at our cottage nearby, and the kids can do the day camp option. We had friends that have worked here in the past and we had heard great things about the camp. The price point is also great and we love joining the camp for dinner some evenings.

(5) Program quality and activities

The pace of camp is just great! Enough activities to wear the kids out, but some downtime too. The kids never feel overwhelmed with the schedule. Our boys love swimming in the lake, trying out the climbing wall, the low-ropes course, and all the wide-field games. The beach cookout is also a favourite evening, along with campfire singalongs.

(5) Social dynamics and experience

Our kids were very well supported and well cared for. They made lots of new friends and had a blast. Even when they were feeling a bit down some days, the staff were attentive and accommodating. The kids were back with the group and playing with friends in no time! the staff created an inclusive and supportive space for everyone.

(5) Skills and growth

It is a pleasure to watch the kids gain confidence and grow more independent while they are at camp. They start off the week feeling a bit shy and unsure, but by the end of the second day, they don’t ever want to leave! They enjoyed trying new activities such as rock climbing and navigating the low ropes course.

(5) Staff/Instructors/Counsellors

The staff were proactive and caring. They create a supportive space for kids to try new things, but also to be themselves. The communication was friendly and always clear. We had a great idea of what to expect before and during camp. They even do up birthday cards to be sent to their campers throughout the year and it has become a real highlight for our kids. They love it!

(5) Advice and tips

Give it a try! It’s such a great way to introduce kids to outdoor activities and an outdoor camp. The size of the camp is not too big, so meals in the dining hall are not too overwhelming. We really appreciate the day camp option, as our kids don’t feel ready to sleepover just yet. It’s a great place to spend the summer!
