In AI Smart Rovers, teens become robotics engineers, building and programming an intelligent rover using real hardware and embedded systems. Campers start by assembling a functional vehicle equipped with motors, sensors, and a microcontroller, gaining hands-on experience with electronics and embedded programming using Arduino and C.
As the week progresses, students explore how machines “sense” their environment and make decisions. They design rule-based decision systems that allow the rover to react to sensor input—like stopping, turning, or rerouting—without constant human control. Students also create gesture-based control inputs to trigger actions, blending perception and interaction in real time.
Each day follows a cycle of build → test → refine, reinforcing problem-solving, systems thinking, and hardware–software integration. Campers troubleshoot real circuits and code, learning resilience through iteration. The week culminates in a Rover Mission Challenge, where teens demonstrate their rover navigating obstacles using the logic they engineered.
By the end of the program, students will have:
AI Smart Rovers is ideal for teens curious about how robots, autonomous vehicles, and intelligent machines work in the real world.
