For over 14 years, Blank Canvases has been inspiring creativity through arts education across the GTA. Located on OCAD University’s campus, our day camp offers young artists the opportunity to create in real studios, explore local galleries, and experience Toronto’s creative landscape firsthand.
With small group sizes, campers receive individualized support tailored to their needs and creative goals. Our program emphasizes student-led learning and a process-driven approach. We encourage experimentation, creative thinking, and problem-solving as key tools in each camper’s artistic development.- Special needs: Yes, mild support. A few of our campers have special needs.

Programs and Sessions Calendar
Our professional artists have arts education experience, emphasizing studio-based practices and learning. This includes building portfolio skills, independent and creative thinking, and confidence in their ideas.
We are committed to sustainability, teaching campers responsible art-making through working with up-cycled and reclaimed materials sourced locally. Above all, we value and foster each camper’s unique voice.

Registration Details
Registration is open! We have limited spots, so early registration is encouraged. Registration is easy and requires brief information about your child's creative interests and goals.

Registering means you agree to the following terms regarding cancellation:
- Cancellations made 21 or more days before the start of camp will receive a full refund, minus a $50 administrative fee.
- Cancellations made 14–20 days before the start of camp will receive a 50% refund.
- Cancellations made less than 14 days before the start of camp are non-refundable. -

OUR KIDS review of Blank Canvases at OCAD University
This is a distinct option for older Toronto kids wanting an extraordinary art camp. Kids aged 11 to 14 join in a five-day immersive visual arts experience hosted at OCAD University. It's taught by professional artists in a studio-based format centered on drawing, painting, sculpture, collage, and mixed media. The camp stands out for its setting and tone. Campers work in OCAD’s professional studios and workshop spaces, and visit public art, the Art Gallery of Ontario, and local Toronto galleries. The Urban Arts week leans into graffiti and street art, while the Eco Arts camp connects creativity with sustainability, including working with upcycled materials. Kids get inspired by working with top artists and teachers from OCAD, notably director and founder Ilene Sova. Sova’s personal career combines art with activism, and her inspiring work, notably the Missing Women Project, has given her a wide audience both in Canada and internationally. Blank Canvases campers gain firsthand experience with the power art has to impact the world and raise awareness.

Director's Message
Dear families,
We’re excited to announce our Art Camp for the Summer of 2026, “Make It!” - a five-day, immersive visual arts program for youth, hosted by OCAD University.
Taught by professional artists, this studio-based camp goes beyond traditional arts and crafts, offering focused instruction in drawing, painting, sculpture, and mixed media.
With small group sizes and access to OCAD U’s studios and facilities, campers develop skills, confidence, and their own artistic voice in a supportive environment.
The program concludes with a final exhibition, where participants share their work with family and friends.
This summer, we look forward to making art and memories you won’t forget!

We work with professional Toronto artists and experienced art educators to teach our art programs. Our staff members have strong backgrounds working with youth in Toronto. Our team is supportive, attentive, and committed to nurturing each camper’s individual needs and creative voice.
Our low camper-to-instructor ratio allows for meaningful one-on-one guidance. As practicing artists ourselves, we understand the value of high-quality art instruction that balances technical skill-building with personal expression. We create a welcoming environment where campers feel safe to take creative risks. We encourage youth to explore identity, materials, and enjoy the process of art-making, where we value curiosity and growth over perfection. -
