Our IB Diploma students performed outstandingly well this year! Of our 89 seniors, 79 students of them were registered for exams, and 73 were full IBDP candidates. Of those 73 students, 100% met the requirements of the full diploma, compared to the world average of 88.9%. The 2021 ASW average was 36 points, up from 35 points in 2020, 34 points in 2019 and 33 points in 2018.
Consistent with the previous six years, the 2021 ASW average is well above the world average, which is predicted to be 33 points. In 2021, 27% of ASW Diploma students achieved a score of 40 or more, compared to 20% worldwide. This is an increase in scores of 40+ at ASW from 2020 (15.5%) and 2019 (10.5%). The highest attainable amount of points awarded is 45 points, and less than 1% of students worldwide reach this milestone. We are proud to announce that an astounding four ASW students achieve perfect scores. To put this last statistic into a greater perspective, these four students studied at ASW for three, eight, ten, and fourteen years, which is a testament to the phenomenal education ASW students receive in our non-selective and inclusive Elementary, Middle, and High Schools.
Without a doubt, our graduates were served exceedingly well by our school in an incredibly challenging year. For each individual student, full DP or not, success is apparent. For those who opted for and were guided through slightly different academic pathways, the success in university acceptances and placement speaks to tailored and individualized programs, which help our students find “best fits” alongside ongoing success after graduating ASW.
Lastly, it is important to thank our very talented cadre of faculty members, Ms. Patti Deo, who served as ASW’s IB DP Coordinator from 2019-2021, and our college and university counselors Ms. Gina Cuthbert and Ms. Rebecca Pohl, for their tireless efforts to support the last couple of graduating classes through some very challenging times.
