Volleyball Instructor: Al Taylor
Al is a volleyball expert who has dedicated his life to the sport. He helps players develop skills that can be used in all areas of life. Volleyball is a unique sport that requires skill, teamwork, and interpersonal relationships. It combines speed, precision, power, and finesse and involves short contacts and constantly changing levels of play. Substitutions are brief and limited, making the game dynamic for players and coaches as they work to find the right combination of players.

Al played for the University of Calgary for five years before being chosen for the Canadian National Men's Team. He captained the team at the 1976 Olympics in Montreal and played for the National team for five years, competing in many international tournaments. After returning to Calgary, he helped create the city's first volleyball club for young athletes.
Al worked as a teacher for 31 years, coaching hundreds of high school athletes and coaches, leading them to several provincial championships. He also worked on club development, coach workshops, and volleyball camps.

Al's work with the National team led to him becoming the assistant coach for one year and then head coach for four years for the World Student Games in Zagreb, Yugoslavia. After retiring from the Calgary Board of Education, Al became the assistant coach for the University of Calgary Dinos Women's Volleyball Team, where he continues to coach today. Working with these young women has been very rewarding, and the team has made it to the National Championships for the last three years.
Volleyball Instructor: Diane Johnson
Diane went to the University of Lethbridge to study Education and Kinesiology. After finishing her studies, she returned to Calgary and taught physical education, leadership, and sports medicine at Centennial High School for five years. Diane has always been interested in health and wellness, and in 2010, she decided to focus on holistic health modalities. She now runs her own wellness consulting business, where she teaches young people the benefits of yoga and a holistic approach to nutrition.
Diane is a certified yoga teacher, essential oil educator, and holistic nutritional consultant. She believes these topics should be included in every young person's education. Diane has been coaching volleyball in Alberta for 19 years, and most of her coaching has been with the 403 Selects Volleyball Club. During her time with the club, she has served as a Coach, Board Member, President, and Co-President. Diane has also worked with HITT Volleyball for the last ten years, where she coaches, instructs yoga, and provides nutritional consultancy services in various summer camps and developmental programs throughout the province.
