On behalf of the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science at Queen’s University, we would like to introduce you to Connections: Queen's Summer Engineering Academy (QSEA). This non-credit experiential education program provides an overview of Engineering in a university setting, and caters to Canadian and International high school students.

The QSEA program offers engineering focused course for students ranging from Grade 3 - Grade 11. Here is a breakdown of the programs:
QSEA Senior (students currently in Grades 9 - 11); QSEA Intermediate (students currently in Grades 7 - 8); QSEA Junior (students currently in Grades 5 - 6); and the QSEA Kids program (students in Grades 3 - 4). QSEA is available in both one-week and multiple-week versions as there are multiple different courses to choose from within each of the various QSEA programs. QSEA will run in July and August of 2020 for a total of 6 weeks.

For the QSEA Senior and Intermediate programs, there is a residence option for students to stay for the entire week. These students are supervised full-time, stay in on-campus premium residence buildings (single air-conditioned room), includes three meals per day, and evening activities. In addition, for three weekends in July, students who are registered for multiple weeks will have the option to stay in residence over the week and participate in the bridge weekend programming around the Kingston area. All of the QSEA program also has a commuter option for those students whom are from the Kingston area or have alternative accommodations.

The Academy takes place on the Queen’s University campus in Kingston, Ontario where the programming runs in the same facilities where Queen’s Engineering students take their classes and labs.  The program explores several engineering disciplines such as Mechanical, Chemical, Civil, Geological, and Electrical-Computer Engineering. It focuses on the broad concepts within each discipline, challenging the students without being technically overwhelming.
