Gemma Sheehan was born to be a mixed martial artist — heck, MMA is in her name.
She has dedicated more than a decade of her life to training in Brazilian jiu-jitsu, wrestling and kickboxing, won gold in jiu-jitsu at the 2016 Pan Am Games, built an impressive 5-1 record in MMA, was once the top-ranked female MMA fighter in Ontario and earned a nomination as the best up-and-coming female fighter worldwide — all while earning a degree in international relations from York University.
Sheehan, known in the cage as “Smash,” was convinced it was only a matter of time until she would find fame and fortune fighting among the toughest women on the planet in the UFC.
