What is the best way to earn a high school credit? While having fun at camp for a month!!
Our Outdoor Skills program is for campers turning 15 in 2022. This course emphasizes regular participation in a variety of enjoyable physical activities (swimming, canoeing, canoe tripping, games) in the outdoors that promote lifelong healthy active living. Student learning will include the application of movement principles to refine skills; participation in a variety of activities that enhance personal competence, fitness, and health; examination of issues related to healthy sexuality, healthy eating, substance use and abuse; and the use of informed decision-making, conflict resolution, and social skills in making personal choices. During the second half of the program, campers will participate in an 8 day canoe trip.
The L.I.T. (Leader in Training) program will prepare students (turning 16 in 2022) to act in leadership and peer support roles. They will design and implement a plan for contributing to the camp community: develop skills in communication, interpersonal relations, teamwork, and conflict management: and apply those skills in leadership and/or peer support. Student (LITs) will examine group dynamics and learn the value of diversity within groups and communities. Students (LITs) will also have an opportunity to develop various camp related skills. A key to the success of this program s the amount of time that LIT's spend directly with the campers actively putting these skills to use with the support of their leaders and all camp staff. It is a great precursor to being on staff.
Both of these programs provide hands on learning in a supportive and fun environment. Come join us and get real life experiences that will set you up for success as a future leader in any field you choose.
See you around the campfire!
