This week, Medics will discover the world of medicine, health and the human body with a focus on germs, disease transmission, prevention, and treatment. They will learn about the heart, lungs, blood, cardiovascular, and respiratory systems as well as bones and the skeletal system, muscles, and teeth. Friday of course will include first aid topics and Medics will be learning about babies and baby care.
Medical professional spotlights this week include cardiologists, hematologists, pharmacists, respiratory therapists, physicians, dentists, radiologists, orthopedists, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, pediatricians, and obstetricians.
Specimens for Observation: Our level 3 age group will have an activity associated with a pig heart and the leg bone of a cow that has been professionally prepared for viewing the internal structures. All campers in all age groups are given the opportunity to view the real specimens and an instructor will do a short age-based presentation for them. We understand that for various reasons, some campers might not want to participate in this observation, and we have other activities available for them.
