This week, Medics will explore the human brain, nervous system and five sensory organs as well as the digestive system, urinary systems and associated organs. We will learn about the anatomy of these organs, common medical conditions associated with them and the medical professionals who specialize in these areas. Friday of course will include first aid topics and Medics will learn about pet health and veterinary medicine. Every day of Medics Camp is completely different as we explore health and the human body in fun and creative ways through engaging hands-on activities and experiments that increase in complexity based on age.
Medical professional spotlights this week include neurologists, psychologists, optometrists, ophthalmologists, audiologists, otolaryngologists (ENT), speech language pathologists, anesthesiologists, gastroenterologists, dermatologists, and surgeons.
Specimens for Observation: Our level 3 age group will have an activity associated with a sheep brain, kidney, and liver this week. All campers in all age groups are given the opportunity to view the real specimens and an instructor will do a short age-based presentation for them. We understand that for various reasons, some campers might not want to participate in this observation, and we have other activities available for them.
Allergy Alert: Some Explore theme activities may include actual "taste" or "smell". Nothing will contain nuts but if your child has other food allergies, please make us aware prior to registering so that we can determine if a risk exists and if so what accommodations we can make so that your child can still safely participate.
