FUN Program – French Summer Camp | Ages 6–9

International Language Camps – FUN Program | French Immersion | Ages 6–9

What’s the best way to learn French? By living it, making friends and having fun.

The FUN Program is specially designed for children ages 6–9, including younger campers experiencing their first residential summer camp away from home. Set in Megève, in the heart of the French Alps, the program combines French language learning, age-appropriate Alpine adventures, sports, creative activities and friendships with children from around the world.

One of the distinctive features of the ILC residential experience is its accommodation. Rather than staying in a traditional camp dormitory, our campers are accommodated at Hôtel Au Vieux Moulin, a high-quality hotel in the centre of Megève. This comfortable and welcoming environment is particularly reassuring for younger children discovering residential camp life for the first time.

Established in 1996, The International Language Camps intentionally remains a small international camp, welcoming around 40 campers per week with approximately one adult for every five campers. This allows our team to know the children individually and provide the attention, encouragement and supervision younger campers need.

French Learning Through Fun

At ILC, learning French should feel like part of the adventure rather than another day at school.

French lessons take place in small groups of no more than eight students, organised according to language level. Lessons focus on communication, participation and age-appropriate activities, helping children develop their French at their own pace while gaining confidence speaking the language.

Learning continues beyond the classroom. Throughout their stay, campers have opportunities to use French naturally during activities, excursions and everyday camp life.

Objectives and Spirit

The FUN Program encourages children to:

• Improve their French through lessons and real-life communication.
• Make friends with children from different countries.
• Discover the French Alps through activities, visits and excursions.
• Try new sports, creative activities and cultural experiences.
• Develop confidence and independence at their own pace.
• Learn to live and communicate within an international community.
• Have fun while discovering a new language and culture.

A Typical Day at ILC

Each day is designed around the rhythm and needs of younger campers, balancing language learning, activity, discovery and time with friends.

Morning:
Interactive French lessons focused on communication, games, role-playing and creative learning, with a maximum of eight students per class.

Afternoon:
Age-appropriate sports, outdoor adventures, cultural discoveries and creative activities. The variety of experiences gives children opportunities to try new things, explore the Alpine environment and build confidence.

Evening:
After dinner, residential campers enjoy supervised games, entertainment and time with their new friends before settling down for the night.

Premium Hotel Accommodation in Central Megève

Accommodation is an important part of the ILC residential experience.

Our campers stay at Hôtel Au Vieux Moulin, a high-quality hotel located in the centre of Megève, rather than in traditional camp dormitories. After a busy day of languages, activities and adventures, children return to a comfortable environment where they can relax and enjoy time with their camp friends.

For parents of children ages 6–9, this setting can provide additional reassurance when considering a first stay away from home.

ILC staff are present at the hotel day and night, providing continuity of supervision throughout the residential experience. Combined with our small camp size and approximately 1:5 staff-to-camper ratio, this allows younger campers to receive attentive support throughout their stay.

The hotel's central location also gives children the opportunity to experience the atmosphere of Megève while remaining at the heart of the ILC community.

A First Step Towards Independence

For many FUN campers, attending an international residential camp is an important first experience away from their family.

Our approach is designed to help children gradually become more independent while knowing that caring adults are close by. They learn to manage everyday routines, participate in group life, try unfamiliar activities, communicate with new people and discover that they are capable of doing more for themselves.

These small achievements can become an important part of the camp experience, helping children return home with greater confidence as well as new language skills and friendships.

A Small Camp with an International Spirit

ILC deliberately keeps its community small, with around 40 campers per week. Children therefore enjoy the international atmosphere of a summer camp while remaining part of a community where they can be known as individuals.

Campers meet children from different countries and cultures, communicate across languages and build friendships through shared experiences.

This international environment is an essential part of ILC: language learning becomes connected to real people, real friendships and memorable experiences.

More Than a French Summer Camp

The FUN Program brings together French immersion, Alpine discovery, international friendships, attentive supervision and high-quality hotel accommodation in Megève.

With language classes limited to eight students, approximately one adult for every five campers, around 40 campers per week and ILC staff present at the hotel day and night, the program is designed to give younger children a supportive environment in which they can enjoy their first international camp experience, gain confidence and begin developing their independence.

Families can choose stays from one to five weeks, allowing each child to experience the French Alps at a pace that suits them.
