A two-week session offers a more intense experience. Campers and staff have a greater opportunity to nurture relationships and partake in the great lessons that camp has to offer. Campers have the opportunity to hone their skills and delve deeper into morning activities as campers select four areas of interest and spend each morning concentrating on two of their choices. Campers work to achieve Camp Kawartha levels and are given awards at the end of the session. There are a wider range of evening programs and theme days.
All campers at camp for two weeks or more participate in an overnight trip away from the camp’s main site. These excursions offer an unforgettable wilderness experience to campers in a safe setting, support personal development and cabin cohesion, and sets campers on the path of leadership. Younger campers (usually 8-10 years) will usually hike to a campsite on the Range (our 180-acre property across from Camp), cook dinner and sleep in tents.
Older campers will go on a one-night or two-night canoe trip, depending on their age and cabin behaviour. After participating in meal planning, practice paddling, and portage training, campers set out to Kawartha Highlands Provincial Park and enjoy the great benefits and fun of wilderness camping.
From opening campfire to the final banquet and candlelighting ceremony, this session is jammed with stimulating programming and activities, facilitated by energetic and supportive staff members in tune with the needs of each camper to provide a fun and nurturing camp experience.
