Transcript of the interview

How did you know Brain Power Enrichment Programs was the right fit for your daughter?

She started almost four years ago, and because it's very close to my home, in the summertime I registered her for the summer workshop. For English Language Arts, it seemed like she was really interested in it.

Even though she's only SK, after she was in grade 1, I decided to put her in the four-year English Language Arts class. I really see how she progressed from just simple sentence writing to very high-level English, like grammar and writing and reading.

I really think she benefited from either the workshop and also the full-year program. So I never stopped her from learning continuously until now she's in grade 4.

What is unique about Brain Power Enrichment Programs?

I think it's about the teacher and also about the whole support, the admin and also the front desk and people there. So supportive. And it's also very flexible.

You go to the class for two hours, and then after the class, you have an assignment. I mean, the kids have an assignment and they have to do the assignment, and then the teacher will edit their assignment, make comments, and then there's always support for everything that your kid did.

There's also interviews, there's feedback. So I think it's not just your kid goes to the class and then that's it.

Was there any personal growth you saw in your child?

I do see the change, the benefits. She's very confident in her literacy.

The English, even at the school, she is more advanced and then she always gets good marks and she's confident writing a short story or doing her journals or participating in her class.

I definitely think it's a huge benefit after taking the class and then she can benefit from the class and then she can be better in her regular school.

How can a parent support their child to get the most out of Brain Power Enrichment Programs?

As a parent, I normally check the email. Every week there's an email, like after each class there's email from the teacher, from the instructor, saying what they did in the class and what are the assignments.

I always make sure my daughter completes all the mandatory homework, and then there's also a review session saying, oh, you have to review the Wordly Wise chapters.

I always make sure that she reviews before she goes to the next class for the test, because every week there's a test. She always wants to get better on the test, and so I'll make sure that she studied before she goes to take the test. And also the homework, that she always completed.

What would you tell other parents about the overall value of sending kids to Brain Power Enrichment Programs?

I actually recommend a lot of my friends, and they all enrolled in WordPower. I have so many friends there already, and I think they feel the same as I did.

We all feel the benefit for our kids, and it's a continuous study and it's an enrichment study. They see how their kids improved after they took the Brain Power class, either English or math or any workshop, and they see the difference in their kid.

They actually continue the program, the classes every year with Brain Power. Some of the friends actually switched from Spirit of Math to Brain Power, and they find actually math here is more interesting.

It's not like just they give you the worksheet and they just work on the worksheet. They're more logic, and it's combined. It's everything, right? So the kids actually find it more interesting taking a math class at Brain Power.

What does your child say about Brain Power Enrichment Programs?

My daughter just took math this year, starting when she's in grade 4, and she finds it really interesting. Interested in math at Brain Power, even more interesting than she studied at school because she always says, oh, the school math is so boring, you know. But she finds the math here more interesting.

She just registered for math for September. She really enjoyed the English class and the math class because it's also a small class and all the kids in the class are very engaged in all their conversation, all the work.

She feels like it's a class. The kids in the class are very focused. I think she makes friends and she likes to go to the class. She likes to discuss things with her friends in the class.

She likes to do work with her friends in the class.
