This course provides opportunities for students to communicate in French about personally relevant, familiar, and academic topics in real-life situations with increasing independence. Students will exchange information, ideas, and opinions with others in guided and increasingly spontaneous spoken interactions. Students will continue to develop their language, knowledge and skills through the selective use of strategies that contribute to effective communication. Students will also increase their understanding and appreciation of diverse French-speaking communities, and will develop skills necessary for lifelong language learning.
This course will take place in the month of August. Using an online conversation & collaboration system, students will work in groups or as a whole class interacting with the teacher and their peers using text, audio, video and screen sharing. Activities such as listening, reading and speaking are part of the daily meetings. This live correspondence will usually take place in the mornings (Eastern Daylight Time), from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and students will continue with their independent work for 2 hours daily after their online time using the shared OneNote Binders. Feedback on homework is provided by the teacher as students work their way through the curriculum.
