The big picture on Ontario Virtual School

We summarized the school ourselves

Since it was founded in 2010, it has grown to an annual student population of 30,000, easily dwarfing the largest brick-and-mortar private schools in Canada by a third and more. The student body is comprised of nationals, in addition to those in Canada, in more than 15 countries. The teaching staff of 25, all Canadian certified, and the school is accredited in Ontario, able to confer the OSSD. In all, this isn’t a new or developing concept, but rather one that reflects a growing need. OVS students register for a much broader range of reasons, all of which signal the diversity of needs that OVS is serving. This includes students who are seeking to fill out a few courses in addition to their current school work, those striving to upgrade existing marks, and those who are scheduling around other commitments, from elite athletics to time spent in medical care. For overseas students, it’s an opportunity to earn an Ontario Secondary School Diploma and therefore apply to Canadian universities, without incurring the costs the cost of boarding and travel. The delivery may be different than many are used to, but the teaching is strong, with a range of supports to ensure learner success. As such, OVS offers a valuable option to a growing number of students, in Canada and around the world.

Gr. 12 — Ontario Virtual School was honestly a great experience for me. Everything was really smooth and easy to follow, and I liked being able to work at my own pace without feeling rushed. The courses were well organized, the lessons were clear, and the assignments matched what we were learning, so nothing felt confusing or random. I also really appreciated how supportive the teachers were and how helpful the feedback was. Any time I had a question, I felt like I could reach out and actually get a real answer. What stood out to me most was how convenient and stress-free it was. It made it way easier to stay on track and manage my time, and I feel like it helped me build good habits for the future. Overall, I would definitely recommend Ontario Virtual School to anyone who wants a flexible, well-structured program with strong support. I feel like it really prepared me for my next steps, and I’m genuinely happy I chose it.

Gr. 11 (current) — I took multiple Grade 12 courses at Ontario Virtual School while maintaining a disorganized schedule and living in a noisy basement apartment. The flexibility of OVS pleased me because I could access lessons late at night while watching them at 1.25x speed, and complete assignments when my mind was clear. I used my laptop to study at university libraries during weekends, because I achieve better results in that environment. The platform features units and lessons, and a checklist and gradebook, which provided me with constant awareness of my remaining work. The discovery I wish I had made earlier is that self-discipline stands as the most important factor. The lack of a bell or teacher supervision makes it simple to fall behind in your studies. I created a weekly checklist to maintain my work progress. I would introduce optional live Q&A sessions before major assessments, if I could modify the system, because students need to hear teachers explain rubrics in real time. The flexible pace of OVS suited my needs, but students who demonstrate self-management skills will find the most success in the program.

Gr. 11 (current) — I loved Ontario Virtual School. As someone with a busy schedule, I found it very easy to catch up on lessons and stay on track thanks to the email reminders about what I had completed or missed. My favourite part was the lesson planner; it helped me integrate my online schoolwork with my in-person classes. I was a little worried about how long the exam process would take near the end, but once I submitted my proctor information, my teacher emailed me immediately. That responsiveness was one of the things that made my experience so great. My teacher always replied quickly and marked my tests promptly! As someone who needed to squeeze in a course because I didn’t have space in my regular timetable, it was an excellent experience. I 100% recommend it!

Gr. 11 — Ontario Virtual School is an excellent option for students looking to earn high school credits online. The courses are well-structured and easy to follow, making independent learning manageable and stress-free. One of the biggest advantages is the flexibility students can progress at their own pace, which is ideal for balancing other responsibilities or accelerating completion. Teachers are professional, approachable, and provide timely feedback, which really enhances the learning experience. The platform is user-friendly, and navigating lessons, assignments, and assessments is straightforward. I also appreciated how quickly final marks were submitted to OUAC, making the university application process smooth and efficient. Overall, OVS offers a reliable, high-quality education that supports student success. I would highly recommend it to anyone pursuing an online learning option, as it was easy to use and had great course material.

Gr. 11 (current) — I really enjoyed my experience with Ontario Virtual School. One of the aspects I appreciated the most was the self-paced learning model it offers. I greatly benefit from this kind of structure because it allows me to learn at my own speed, giving me as much time as I need to fully understand a concept or work through a unit summative until I am satisfied with my work, without having to spend hours every day. The lessons within each unit are thoughtfully organized, clearly structured, and help reinforce previous content while introducing new ideas. Additionally, the unit summatives are creative and use a variety of formats, such as writing a story, creating a poem, multimedia presentations, and audio presentations. This method of assessing student understanding was engaging and enjoyable to me.

Student, Mikaya Rotondo-Dakhil (2025)

Gr. 12 (current) — I loved the school. I was able to complete everything at my own pace, and the lessons were very in-depth, allowing me to teach myself and go back whenever needed for more help and information. The registration process was very quick, and I was able to start immediately. I wouldn’t change anything apart from possibly the price, as it is a lot for some, but still less compared to other private schools. I would like to formally thank OVS for making this process as smooth as possible and helping me complete my goal of finishing prior to my deadline, as well as fast-tracking my final report wherever it needed to be sent. If it wasn’t for them, I wouldn’t be continuing into my dream program in the medical field!

Gr. 11 (current) — It is peaceful and fun at Ontario Virtual School. I personally love it, and I’ve hardly felt stress when doing courses here. The structure of the courses is well built, with good examples and fun videos used. Any student who attends here learns how to manage their time, as students dictate how they learn (how many lessons in a day, how many days to complete a course, etc.). This may be a dealbreaker for some students who have difficulty focusing and staying on track, but teachers can help. You can book one-on-one tutoring for specific topics with your teacher, where they help you understand what you’re lost on. Additionally, there are usually videos in lessons, and there is optional homework that can help a student further understand a topic.

Gr. 12 (current) — I took Calculus and Vectors with OVS, and it was a positive and smooth experience overall. I was looking to take a course over the summer, but spots had filled up at my public school, so I connected with OVS, and they were able to get me started right away. The website was very well organized, and I was able to locate lessons, extra resources and unit tests with ease. The lessons were clear and engaging, and my teacher was highly responsive when it came to replying to my emails and returning evaluations within 48 hours. When it came time to upload my grade to OUAC, I faced a small issue, but once I reached out to them, they responded and were able to fix it within hours of me raising the concern. Taking a course with OVS has been nothing but a pleasant experience, and I would recommend it to anyone who is looking to take an online course.

Gr. 12 — My experience at Ontario Virtual School was flexible and self-paced, allowing me to manage my own time effectively. What stood out most was the independence it encouraged—great preparation for university-style learning. I appreciated the clear lesson videos and quick response times from teachers. One thing I’d improve is adding more live interaction or optional virtual meetups for peer connection. The school did prepare me well academically and helped build time management skills. Prospective students should expect a structured online platform, supportive staff, and the freedom to work at their own pace. It's ideal for motivated learners who prefer working independently but still want quality instruction. Overall, OVS is a solid option for students needing flexibility without compromising on academic standards, and I personally thoroughly enjoyed it.

Gr. 11 — My overall experience at Ontario Virtual School was very positive. The best part was definitely the flexibility — I could study whenever and wherever I wanted, and adjust the amount of work I did each day based on how I was feeling. This allowed me to learn at my own pace and manage my time effectively, which was perfect for my personal situation. However, if I could change one thing, I would like to have had more math practice problems available, so I could challenge myself further and gain even more confidence. I believe OVS prepared me well for the next steps in my education, as it helped me become more independent and responsible for my own learning. For prospective students, I would say they should expect a very flexible and self-paced environment that can be both exciting and demanding, depending on how disciplined they are.

Gr. 12 (current) — Taking BB4M (International Business) with OVS was a great experience. The best part was the flexibility it offered—I could learn at my own pace and manage the course alongside my other responsibilities. The course material was well-organized and easy to follow, which made studying much more efficient. I chose to take this course through OVS because it wasn’t offered at my regular day school, and I also wanted to get ahead in credits while exploring my interest in business before applying to university. The teacher was responsive and consistently marked assignments and evaluations promptly. Whenever I had questions, they were answered clearly and helpfully. I regularly made use of the practice tests and the online textbook. These resources were especially helpful in reinforcing concepts and preparing for the final exam. The school office and student success team were also supportive and prompt whenever I needed assistance with enrollment or general inquiries. My final mark was successfully submitted to OUAC, which made the university application process smooth.

Gr. 12 — Taking Grade 12 Calculus and Vectors through Ontario Virtual School was a great experience. The course content was clearly organized, with lessons that broke down difficult concepts in a way that made them much easier to understand. The flexibility of working at my own pace was a huge advantage, especially during a busy school year. My online teacher was quick to respond to emails and provided helpful feedback, which made a big difference in keeping me on track. The platform itself was easy to navigate, and all expectations were laid out clearly from the start. While interaction with the school’s administration was limited, they were professional and communicated important information well. Overall, I would highly recommend OVS to any student looking for a high-quality, flexible, and supportive online learning option.

Gr. 12 — I recently completed SVN3E-01 (Grade 11 Environmental Science) with Ontario Virtual School and had a fantastic experience. I chose OVS because I needed a flexible option outside my regular day school schedule, and OVS delivered exactly that. The course was well-structured, engaging, and easy to follow at my own pace. One of the best parts of taking a course with OVS was how responsive the teacher was. Any time I had questions or submitted assignments, I received feedback and marks quickly, which helped me stay motivated and on track. The online resources, especially the practice tests and the textbook, were very helpful in preparing for evaluations and final exams. The school office and student success team were also incredibly supportive. They promptly answered my questions and made the entire process—from enrollment to final mark submission—smooth and stress-free. My final grade was successfully uploaded to OUAC in time for my university applications, which I really appreciated. Overall, I had a very positive experience with OVS and would definitely recommend it to other students looking for a convenient, effective, and supportive online learning option.

Gr. 12 (current) — Taking the Grade 12 Calculus and Vectors course (MCV4U-19) with Ontario Virtual School was a great experience. The best part was the flexibility it offered. I was able to work at my own pace, review lessons when I needed to, and complete tests at times that were most convenient for me. This made it much easier to manage my schedule compared to a regular day school. I chose to take the course at OVS instead of through my regular school because of this flexibility. It allowed me to focus more effectively on my learning without the pressure of strict deadlines. My teacher was very supportive throughout the course. They answered all of my questions clearly, marked assignments and tests fairly, and always provided feedback in a timely manner. The comments after each test helped me understand what I did well and where I could improve. I also made good use of the practice tests and online resources. The extra practice questions were especially helpful and gave me the confidence I needed to feel prepared for each evaluation. Overall, the staff at OVS were professional, helpful, and committed to student success. I had a very positive experience and would definitely recommend OVS to other students looking for a flexible and supportive learning environment.

Gr. 11 — My experience at Ontario Virtual School was incredibly positive. I took ICS3U because I wanted to earn the Grade 11 Computer Science credit before summer so I could take Grade 12 Computer Science in summer school. The flexibility OVS offers made this possible, I was able to work at my own pace and finish the course efficiently. The content was well-organized, and the video lessons were easy to follow. The best part was how quickly my teacher marked assignments and responded to any questions I had. I never felt stuck or confused for long. The process was also very seamless to send my final report card to my full-time school guidance counselor in order to add it to my transcript and give me the prerequisite required to take the grade 12 computer science course in the summer. Overall, I highly recommend OVS to anyone needing flexibility and high-quality instruction.

Gr. 12 (current) — I took Grade 12 Calculus and Vectors with Ontario Virtual School because I struggled to keep up with the pace of teaching at my day school, and I had an absolutely amazing experience. I truly appreciated the flexible and supportive environment OVS provided, which allowed me to catch up on schoolwork from other classes and study for tests without feeling overwhelmed. Being able to complete unit tests at my own convenience made a huge difference in reducing stress. The lessons were extremely well-structured, detailed, and filled with practice questions and optional quizzes that helped reinforce my understanding of the material. I felt confident completing homework after each lesson, and whenever I had any confusion, I could revisit the content or reach out to my teacher, who always responded promptly. Both the teachers and guidance staff were very responsive to my emails and calls, which made me feel supported throughout the course. I also appreciated the opportunity to improve my grade with optional assignments, as well as the generous time given to complete and submit unit tests. My teacher marked tests within a few hours and provided specific, helpful feedback that helped me improve my skills. The extra time I had to study for both unit tests and the final exam allowed me to go into each assessment feeling fully prepared. Additionally, my final marks and report cards were transferred smoothly and on time to both my day school and OUAC, which helped make the university application process much less stressful. Overall, OVS gave me the tools, time, and support I needed to succeed, and I would highly recommend it to other students.

Student, Meriam Abdelatty (2025)

Gr. 12 (current) — I love Ontario Virtual School because of the amazing support and the well-organized website. One of the best features of OVS is its self-paced structure and the quick responses from teachers. At first, it may seem like you’d be forgotten among the hundreds of other students, but it’s actually the complete opposite. Not only do you get responses to inquiries within one to two days, but teachers also send check-in emails asking if you need any help. If I could change one thing about the school, it would be to offer optional Zoom meetings with teachers to allow for one-on-one discussions to clarify certain topics, strategies, or mistakes. Overall, I really enjoyed my experience with Ontario Virtual School and would definitely recommend it.

Student, Anthony K (2025)

(5)

Gr. 12 (current) — At OVS, it was easy to understand the layout of the program and to follow my lessons and assignments. All the things I needed to know were in tabs that were easy to navigate. The lessons themselves were okay, but sometimes the voice note left on the slide would cut off while the teacher was speaking, or sometimes it would continue playing even after the teacher finished speaking, running with no sound at all. As well, the unit review didn’t cover everything I had learned in the unit, but it did cover most of it and was displayed clearly. Altogether, it was good.

Student, Haroon Khalid (2025)

Gr. 12 (current) — Ontario Virtual School was a 10/10 experience for me—everything was amazing. I loved how flexible it was, especially for chemistry. The lessons were super clear, the platform was easy to use, and I could work at my own pace without any pressure, which really helped me stay on top of things. The teachers responded quickly whenever I had questions, which made it feel really supportive, even though everything was virtual. I never felt lost or stuck for long. Honestly, there’s nothing I’d change about the experience. I wish I’d known sooner how smooth and stress-free it would be—it would’ve saved me a lot of worry before I started. If you’re focused and like working independently, it’s honestly the perfect setup. OVS makes learning feel manageable, even with a busy schedule.

Gr. 12 (current) — I had an incredible experience at Ontario Virtual School. I took both Calculus and English through their e-learning platform, and I can confidently say that this school exceeded all of my expectations. The Calculus teacher made a challenging subject feel approachable, clear, and even exciting. They explained complex concepts in a way that made sense, were always available for questions, and genuinely cared about helping students succeed. My English teacher was just as exceptional. Their feedback was thoughtful and constructive, and they encouraged deep thinking, creativity, and real growth as a writer and critical thinker. Each lesson felt meaningful and engaging. The platform itself was easy to use, well-organized, and supportive of different learning styles. The flexibility of online learning paired with the high quality of teaching made this experience not only effective but also truly enjoyable.

Gr. 11 (current) — Taking Grade 11 Functions through Ontario Virtual School was a really positive experience. I loved the flexibility it offered, especially since I have a busy schedule with sports and school. The lessons were easy to follow, and I could learn at my own pace, which made it less stressful than a regular classroom. The teachers were supportive and gave helpful feedback whenever I had questions or submitted work. One thing I wish I had known before starting was how independent the course really is—you need to stay on top of things yourself. If I could change anything, I’d add optional check-ins or reminders to help with time management. Overall, I really liked OVS and would recommend it to any student looking for a flexible and well-structured course.

The teacher was very responsive, answering my questions quickly and marking assignments in a timely manner, which made the learning process smoother. I also made use of the practice tests, exams, and online textbook, all of which were incredibly helpful for studying and preparing for evaluations. Gr. 12 (current) — Ontario Virtual School was excellent. I kind of loved how flexible and self-paced it was. It gave me the freedom to work on my own schedule, which made it easier to balance other responsibilities. The lessons were clear, and I appreciated being able to revisit videos and materials whenever I needed to review something. The overall structure of the courses made it easy to stay on track, and the teachers were responsive whenever I had questions. One thing I wish I had known before starting was just how independent the learning would be. It requires discipline and good time management, but once I got into a routine, it worked really well. I really enjoyed being able to take control of my own learning and move at a pace that suited me. The experience helped me become more organized and responsible. Overall, I’d definitely recommend Ontario Virtual School to anyone looking for a flexible and supportive learning environment.

Gr. 12 (current) — Taking Calculus online with Ontario Virtual School has been an amazing experience. The course was incredibly well organized, with clear lessons, helpful examples, and layouts that made learning easy and enjoyable. I loved being able to work at my own pace, giving me the freedom to learn on my own schedule and truly retain the information. The videos and practice questions made even the most challenging topics feel manageable, and I felt supported every step of the way. What stood out the most was how accessible and easy to follow the content was. The platform was user-friendly, and everything I needed was always just a click away. I’m really glad I chose to take this course through OVS. It made learning Calculus a genuinely rewarding and positive experience.

Gr. 12 (current) — I took Grade 11 Functions with OVS because I struggled to keep up with the pace of teaching in day school. I loved the independent style of OVS, allowing students to manage their own schedules based on individual preparedness. I was able to review difficult topics as many times and for as long as necessary! There was plenty of review material, including a guidebook, workbook, and practice tests. There was also opportunity to improve grades through optional assignments, and there was no pressure to keep pace with peers. Both teachers and guidance staff replied to all questions by email, etc., in a timely manner, and an assessment/report was never returned later than predicted. The online platform was user-friendly; it was easy to book guidance appointments, etc. In applying to universities, OVS facilitated the smooth transition of grades from their platform to that of my home school, as well as OUAC. I simply booked a guidance call and was able to request marks to be transferred. Final reports can be automatically transferred to home schools through a form. This exponentially reduces stress and confusion about credits being transferred/recognized across schools. Overall, I had an incredibly positive experience with OVS and would recommend anyone looking to earn credit outside of day school consider joining!

Gr. 11 (current) — One thing I wish I’d known before starting at Ontario Virtual School is how important time management is. Without designated class times or daily reminders, it’s up to you to stay on top of deadlines and pace yourself through the material. If I could change one thing about the school, I’d like to see a bit more structure. Optional check-ins, progress tracking tools, or mini-deadlines to help students stay accountable would be a good addition to the program. I also think more opportunities for live interaction with teachers or even other students would make the experience feel less isolated. Communicating with other students through a virtual lens could really enhance the learning experience. Overall, OVS works well if you’re independent, but there’s always room to make it even better.

Student, Mariam Khalifa (2025)

(4.3)

Gr. 12 (current) — OVS offers a flexible, self-paced learning environment that I found convenient. Learners are able to complete courses on their own schedule, which is especially helpful for those balancing part-time work, extracurriculars, and other classes. One of the most appreciated aspects of OVS is the quick response time from teachers; my emails would get a response fairly quickly, as well as with the marking of unit tests and assignments. The content is well-organized, and the multimedia lessons make the material easier to understand. However, this freedom can be a double-edged sword. Without set class times or deadlines, it’s easy to fall behind, but OVS would send reminders if I hadn't been active in a while. For motivated learners, OVS provided a solid alternative to traditional schooling.

Gr. 12 — I had an amazing experience with Ontario Virtual School while completing ENG4U. I chose OVS because I wanted the flexibility to work at my own pace while balancing a busy academic schedule. The course was well-structured, the content was easy to follow, and the online platform was very user-friendly. One of the best parts of OVS was how quickly my teacher responded to questions and marked assignments. I always felt supported throughout the course. The practice tests and exams were incredibly helpful in preparing me for the final evaluations, and the online resources made learning smooth and accessible. The school office and student success team were also very helpful whenever I needed assistance. My final grade was promptly submitted to OUAC, which made the university application process seamless. Overall, OVS exceeded my expectations. I highly recommend it to any student looking for a flexible, supportive, and effective e-learning experience.

Gr. 12 (current) — I had a positive experience with Ontario Virtual School overall. The platform was easy to navigate, and I appreciated the flexibility it offered, especially when managing multiple responsibilities. I found the lessons clear and well-organized, and the ability to progress at my own pace was a major advantage. That said, I wish I had known more about the grading timelines before starting. Sometimes feedback took longer than expected, which made it harder to stay on track. I would suggest improving communication regarding assignment review times and adding more interactive elements like live Q&A sessions or discussion boards. That would make the experience feel a bit more personal and engaging. Overall, OVS is a great option for independent learners who prefer a self-paced environment.

One thing that stood out to me was the self-paced nature of the school—it allowed me to move faster through subjects I was comfortable with while spending more time on challenging topics. I felt well-prepared for future academic steps, especially because the assignments and tests were designed to build real understanding. If I could change anything, I’d suggest more video lessons in some courses. Overall, I’d highly recommend OVS to students looking for an independent, high-quality learning experience.

Gr. 12 (current) — I had a great experience taking Grade 12 English with Ontario Virtual School. The best part was how flexible it was; I could do the course on my own time, which really helped me stay on top of everything. I chose OVS instead of my regular day school because I wanted to work at my own pace and finish faster. The teacher was very helpful and always replied quickly. My assignments were marked fast, and the feedback was clear. I also used the practice tests and online textbook, which made studying easier and helped me get a better mark. The staff at OVS were supportive and easy to reach when I needed help. My final mark was posted to OUAC with no issues, which helped with my university applications. I’m really happy I chose OVS and would recommend it to anyone looking for a flexible and supportive online school.

Gr. 12 — I found Ontario Virtual Schools to be very helpful and educational! I especially found that the lessons were very detailed and easy to follow. They gave many different examples of questions and formulas. At the end of the lessons, there was mini quizzes that helped me make sure I was understanding all the topics properly. I also think being able to learn everything from my home made it a lot easier to manage my time, and complete all of the tests efficiently. The proctored exam was also very beneficial because it made sure there would be no cheating or use of ai, while still allowing the exam to be completed remotely! Overall, my experience with Ontario Virtual School was amazing, and I would definitely recommend it to any students in need of an extra credit from home!

Gr. 12 (current) — The teacher was very responsive and provided quick feedback, which made the experience smooth and easy to follow. All assessments were fair and directly connected to the lessons taught, with nothing coming from outside the material covered. This made it easier to prepare and succeed without any surprises. The lab component, even though it was completed online, was clear, manageable, and well-structured. Overall, the course created a positive and helpful learning environment that reduced the stress of my regular school workload. It allowed me to stay on track, earn a strong grade, and still learn and understand the key concepts. The balance between learning and assessment was just right, and I feel more confident in the subject now. I would highly recommend this course to other students looking for extra support.

Gr. 12 — My overall experience at Ontario Virtual School (OVS) was incredibly positive, and I would confidently rate it five stars. What stands out most in my mind is the flexibility and support that OVS offers. This truly sets it apart from traditional in-person schools. As someone who had to balance academics with personal health challenges and travel between provinces, the ability to work at my own pace made a huge difference in my success. The platform is user-friendly and well-organized. Each course is easy to follow, with clear instructions and expectations. I always knew where I stood in terms of progress. The teachers were responsive and respectful. One thing I appreciated most was how quickly they replied to emails or marked assignments, especially when I had tight deadlines or urgent concerns. Their professionalism made me feel supported rather than overwhelmed. What I liked best about OVS was the independence it gave me without lowering the academic standards. I developed stronger time management, research, and writing skills. I also gained confidence in using online tools, which I know will be helpful in both university and the workplace. Overall, I absolutely feel that OVS prepared me well for my next steps in life. I developed self-discipline, accountability, and critical thinking skills. These qualities will benefit me in any path I choose. Prospective students should expect a flexible, challenging, and rewarding experience. As long as you stay organized and reach out when you need support, you will do well. OVS offers not just convenience but a quality education that adapts to real-life needs.

Gr. 12 (current) — My experience at OVS was amazing. The teacher was really nice, and they taught me a lot. The school and teacher emailed back fast and helped with the work. They were very quick to get back to me and post my marks into OUAC. My grades were amazing, and I would recommend OVS to others. If you are looking for a school that is at your own pace and speed, this is the school for you. The process of enrolling in this school was super easy and efficient, and the workload was perfect for me. The lessons were also super helpful, and anytime I needed to go back to look at them, it was super easy to find. Online, the navigation was very organized and easy to use. Gr. 12 (current) — I loved Ontario Virtual School. I really appreciated how I was able to work on it at any time. I’m a busy person, and the flexibility that OVS offers was perfect for me. Just from the one class I took at OVS, I wouldn’t change a thing about the school. One thing I do wish I had known before taking an OVS course is how accommodating it is; everything is really based on what you're comfortable with as a student. If I could change one thing about my day school, I would say it’s the lack of personalized accommodations. Students should be taught in the way they learn best, instead of everyone being taught the same way. Overall, I had a great experience at Ontario Virtual School, and I think it’s a great choice for anyone who might be struggling with traditional school courses.

Gr. 11 (current) — Ontario Virtual School has been a fantastic experience for me. I felt supported and confident in my learning throughout the course. I especially appreciated how easy it was to communicate with my teacher—she always responded quickly and provided valuable feedback. One feature I found extremely helpful was being able to submit assignments for review before final submission, which allowed me to improve my work and consistently achieve high-quality results. I earned a 97% in my Grade 12 Health and Nutrition course and genuinely enjoyed the material, even with my previous background in nutrition. One thing I wish I had known before enrolling is how independent-paced the learning really is—this can be great, but you do need to stay motivated. If I could change one thing, it might be adding optional live sessions or webinars for those who enjoy interactive learning.

Gr. 12 (current) — Ontario Virtual School was the best choice I had ever made. They made it so easy for me to sign up and send my grades to OUAC and to my day school. The class I took was HFA4U, and the teacher was super nice, very quick to respond to all of my questions and concerns. The workload was just right because they knew I had to balance this with four other classes. The projects were also a lot of fun because they helped me express myself creatively and not just follow a set of rules and instructions. Overall, the teachers are really great, and the way the lessons are taught makes everything really clear. I would highly recommend OVS to anyone who needs extra credit or grade.

Gr. 12 (current) — Ontario Virtual School is a good place to learn because it is flexible and lets me study from home. I kind of love it because I can work at my own pace and choose when to do my schoolwork. The teachers are helpful and answer questions quickly, which makes learning easier. One thing I wish I knew before starting was how important it is to stay organized and keep a schedule, because it is easy to fall behind without set class times. If I could change one thing about the school, I would want more live lessons or group meetings with teachers and students. This would help me feel more connected and make it easier to ask questions right away. Overall, Ontario Virtual School is a good option for students who want to learn online but need to be self-motivated.

Gr. 12 (current) — I really enjoyed my Calculus course at OVS. I was able to learn all the concepts effectively and progress at my own pace, which helped me develop a clear and thorough understanding of the topics. I especially appreciated the one-on-one tutoring option, which allowed me to ask questions directly to my teacher. It helped clear up any doubts and ensured I had no misconceptions. I also loved how organized the course was, from the lessons to the tests, everything was laid out clearly. The Resources tab was very helpful, and the assignments deepened my understanding through visual learning. I experienced no technical issues or lag on the website, and my teacher was always responsive and supportive. I would definitely recommend OVS to any high school student looking to complete a course online. Give it a try, you’ll love it!

Gr. 11 (current) — I took the Grade 11 online French course through OVS and really appreciated how flexible it was. I chose this course because I was enrolled in a program at another school, and French Immersion was only offered during the semester I was away. OVS turned out to be a great solution—it gives you a full year to complete the course, so there’s no pressure, and you can truly work at your own pace. As a daytime student, it fit well with my schedule. If I had a busy week, I didn’t have to stress about French and could come back to it when I had more time. Even though the course was online, I never felt completely on my own. There were discussion activities with classmates, which added a nice element of interaction. I also appreciated how structured and easy to navigate the course was. I went into OVS not knowing much about how it worked, only that it was online, but I was pleasantly surprised by how efficient and well-organized everything was.

Gr. 11 (current) — Overall, my experience with the Ontario Virtual School (OVS) has been very positive. The best part about OVS is the flexibility. OVS allows me to work on my own time and at my own pace. When I'm comfortable moving forward, I can speed up. When I'm struggling with something, I can slow down and take my time without being pressured to move faster. This creates a healthy engagement with students, facilitating learning for those who are busy—like athletes similar to myself—to engage and move forward in a way that feels healthiest for us. Something I wish I knew before is how independent it is. This is both the best part and the most challenging aspect, as it requires a level of self-motivation and discipline to ensure proper engagement. One thing I would change about OVS would be to have a little more structure or optional live check-in opportunities for those who need a little bit more guidance. However, the independence and flexibility of OVS truly allow for a wonderful, personalized learning experience.

I like how I can move at my own pace and take extra time on things I find harder. I also didn’t expect the teachers to be so quick to help. They reply to emails fast and are always supportive. Gr. 12 (current) — I have loved the Ontario Virtual School student experience. I have always been able to ask the teacher questions, and they have sent me an email within 1–2 days. I have also liked the layout of the website, as it was very easy to use. There does not seem to be anything that I would want to change because this school is AMAZING! A lot of my friends have also been attending this school because our day school is not the best at teaching, and it has been a wonderful experience for them as well. I feel like Ontario Virtual School is a better school than my actual day school. For example, I actually feel accepted, and I do not feel nervous or scared whenever I ask any questions. OVS has inspired me to become a better learner, and this OVS experience has been EXCELLENT! Gr. 11 (current) — Attending Ontario Virtual School has been a unique and mostly positive experience for me. I would say I kind of love it because of the flexibility it offers. Being able to manage my own schedule allows me to balance school with other commitments, which is a big plus. That said, there are a few things I wish were different. Sometimes, the lack of in-person interaction makes it harder to stay motivated and feel connected with teachers and classmates. I think having more live sessions or group activities could help build a stronger sense of community. One thing I wish I had known before starting is how important self-discipline is in an online learning environment. It’s easy to fall behind without a set routine, so being prepared to stay organized and proactive is key. If I could change one thing about the school, it would be to add more structured support—like regular check-ins or coaching—to help students stay on track and feel less isolated. Also, having access to more interactive study spaces or forums where students can collaborate and ask questions in real time would be amazing. Overall, Ontario Virtual School offers great opportunities, but a bit more structure and community connection would make the experience even better.

I loved being able to work at my own pace without the pressure of a traditional classroom, and I was still able to earn high marks and actually understand the content. What stood out to me most was how organized and professional everything felt from registration to final exams. But overall, OVS helped me stay focused, motivated, and ahead in my academic goals. Gr. 12 (current) — I loved OVS, in my personal opinion. I enjoyed the fact that I was able to learn and complete this course at my own pace, regardless of the other courses I had in school. Because of this course, I was able to personally learn and grow in skills such as time management, as I had to figure out my own schedule for it. Additionally, I believe that for this reason, I was able to do better in my other courses since I had the freedom to focus on and plan my education, rather than having someone else who might not take my struggles at home and in school into consideration. Furthermore, I liked that I could rewatch my lessons and use them as a review, unlike in school, where you see the lesson once and it’s gone. Alongside that, I appreciated that they had a very hands-on success team, ensuring that students keep track of their education.

Gr. 12 (current) — I loved being a student with Ontario Virtual School. The school was perfect in terms of pacing, teaching, marking, and more. Their website is very easy to use and ensures the user is familiar with all available resources through a fabulous orientation. I wish I had known just how many helpful resources were available in OVS. There are plenty of ways to receive help, whether it's through the teacher, the counsellors, tech support, or many more. OVS ensures that all work, such as tests or assignments, is marked within 48 hours! This has helped me immensely as I was provided feedback almost immediately and was able to continue learning at my desired pace and not feel rushed at all. This means that I could also move ahead when I felt they were easy for me. This flexibility lets me manage my day school along with other extracurricular activities. Gr. 12 (current) — What I love most about OVS (Ontario Virtual School) is the freedom and flexibility that it affords. I can easily go at my own pace, doing units fairly quickly, while still retaining the content required to be successful on unit tests, and deepening my understanding of topics as a whole. The structure is fairly straightforward: watch the lessons, complete the work, and complete the accompanying unit test. I found it to be a rather seamless experience. One thing I wish I knew is how much self-discipline it takes, but luckily, they so check up on you if you haven't touched any of the work in a while. Gr. 12 (current) — Ontario Virtual School was a great experience for me as a student. I turned to OVS after frustration with my day school calculus teacher. I loved the flexibility of the course, but I was still encouraged to complete it on a regular basis by the nature of the website. In such a stressful and important year, such as grade 12, I felt supported by OVS, and the grade I received helped me get into my top choice of a university program (Western Ivey). Whenever I reached out to my teacher, she was quick to respond. She was also quick to mark tests, usually it took one day, which is great compared to my day school, where it takes over a week. I took their online course in Human Growth and Development (HHG4M), which was expertly laid out and allowed me to learn a lot. The instructor always responded quickly whenever I had questions and was very prompt with marking. One of my favourite parts of the system was the layout of the online courses; everything was easy to manage, and the ‘course points’ feature kept me motivated throughout. I especially loved the challenge option, where you can challenge another student to a quiz on the course content. It really helped me prepare for the exam. The practice tests and exams were extremely helpful and did a great job of preparing me for the real thing. Gr. 12 (current) — Taking a course with OVS was a positive and convenient experience for me. One of the best parts of OVS was the flexibility it offered. I could work at my own pace and fit studying around my schedule, which helped me manage my time during a busy semester. My teacher, Ms. Bertolo, was very helpful and always responded to emails and marked assessments in a timely manner. This kept me motivated and aware of my progress. I made use of the online textbook and practice tests, which helped me prepare for both the tests and the exam. Gr. 12 (current) — Studying with Ontario Virtual School was a very positive experience. I was enrolled in their Calculus and Vectors course and found that the lessons, homework, and practice tests prepared me well for assessments and gave me a strong understanding of the content. My teacher was very responsive and took great care in providing comments on my tests to help me improve. Taking this course online was important to me due to negative experiences with math at my home school, where teachers often couldn’t answer questions when there was confusion, and where the tests didn’t reflect the material or level of difficulty taught in class. Since this course will be part of my studies next year, I didn’t want to leave with only a vague understanding of the material. Gr. 12 (current) — Ontario Virtual School has been a flexible and convenient option for completing high school credits online. I kind of love it, especially the ability to work at my own pace and plan around my personal schedule. However, I do wish there were more opportunities for real-time interaction with teachers or classmates, like virtual study groups or live Q&A sessions. Before enrolling, I wish I had known how self-directed it really is—you need to be disciplined and motivated to stay on track. If I could change one thing, I’d add more structured support, such as weekly check-ins or guided pacing tools, to help students stay accountable. Gr. 12 (current) — I took BBB4M with Ms. Dionne. I genuinely loved my experience at Ontario Virtual School. The best part was the flexibility — I could move at my own pace, which made balancing school with my other responsibilities way easier. One thing I wish I knew earlier is how quickly teachers respond; I was worried online learning would be isolating, but the support is actually super fast. If I could change one thing, maybe it would be adding optional live sessions just to help connect more with peers or instructors. Otherwise, the course layout is really clear and structured well. The practice tests and online textbooks were also a huge help when studying — they made a big difference for me. Gr. 12 (current) — Ontario Virtual School (OVS) offers a flexible, self-paced learning environment that worked really well for me, especially in Calculus and Vectors. I kind of loved it—the clear lessons and organized layout helped me stay on track. One thing I wish I’d known before starting is how important self-discipline is; without deadlines, it’s easy to fall behind. If I could change one thing, it would be to add a bit more structure, like suggested weekly goals, to help with pacing. The format is ideal for students who are independent and motivated. Overall, OVS was a great experience, and my success in Calculus and Vectors showed how well the course was designed for focused, self-directed learning. The freedom to study anytime made balancing school and other responsibilities much easier.

Gr. 12 — Ontario Virtual School was great. Being able to tackle courses on my own time, at my own pace, felt great. It was not stressful, and I learned everything that a regular day school would teach in a semester, in just two months. I took the MCV4U Calculus course with Ontario Virtual School, and I feel like it has been a great experience for me, since I could dwell on any concepts I did not understand well for longer, or I could have skimmed past concepts that I understood well already. I ended up finishing this MCV4U Calculus course with a 96% average, which is my highest grade I have ever gotten in any course in high school, which I feel I would not have been able to achieve without OVS.

Gr. 12 (current) — Ontario Virtual School is a solid option if you're looking for flexibility and independence. I wouldn’t say I “love” it the way you’d love a traditional school experience, but I definitely appreciate it for what it offers. The ability to work on my own time, move at my own pace, and manage my schedule is a huge plus, especially if you’re juggling other responsibilities or want to upgrade a course. One thing I wish I’d known before starting is that you really need to be self-disciplined. There’s not much hand-holding, so if you procrastinate, it can be tough to catch up. I also wish the course layout were more organized; sometimes it's a bit clunky to find what you need. If I could change one thing, it would be to add more structure or suggested timelines built into the course platform to help keep students on track. Maybe even optional check-ins or reminders from the teacher to break the isolation a bit. Overall, OVS works well if you're independent and motivated. It's not a traditional school experience, but it’s a great tool if you use it right.

Gr. 12 (current) — I took MHF4U with Ontario Virtual School (OVS) after having a tough time at my day school. I was nervous at first since I don’t usually like online classes, but this was honestly the best decision I made. Everything was super clear, the teacher replied quickly, and I actually understood the lessons. Each lesson was clear and divided perfectly. I used the practice tests a lot, and they helped me feel ready. The whole experience was smooth and stress-free. My mark went up, but more importantly, I actually enjoyed learning. I’d definitely take another course with OVS again. 10/10. If you’re struggling in school or just need a fresh start, I highly recommend giving OVS a try. It really made a difference for me.

Gr. 12 (current) — Ontario Virtual School was a great experience for me overall. I liked how flexible it was, especially since I could work at my own pace and fit studying into my schedule. I wouldn’t say I completely loved it, but I did kind of love the independence it gave me. One thing I wish I’d known before starting was how important it is to stay disciplined; there’s no one pushing you, so you have to manage your own time well. If I could change one thing, I’d add more built-in structure, like weekly progress check-ins or study plans, to help students stay on track. The platform is easy to use, and the teachers respond quickly, but a little more guidance would make it even better.

Gr. 12 — My time at Ontario Virtual School was amazing. I loved the independent pace I got to create for myself while exploring the materials. Asking for clarification was always time-efficient and very easy, I felt as though I could always ask for support. This was my first time taking an online course, and I would recommend it to those who take their schooling and learning seriously because it requires dedication and self-motivation! A student enrolling should be prepared to create a schedule and routine for their independent learning. In terms of the school itself, I would not change a single thing because it was fairly easy to self-explore the course I took and communicate with the school to receive my grades and ask questions.

Gr. 12 (current) — Taking courses with Ontario Virtual School was a really helpful experience, especially because it gave me the flexibility to work at my own pace. I took Grade 12 Calculus and Chemistry through OVS instead of my regular day school because I wanted more control over my schedule and needed to fit the courses around my other commitments. One of the best parts was how organized everything was. The lessons were clear, and the practice tests and online resources made it easier to understand the harder topics. The teachers responded to my questions quickly and marked my assignments and tests in a reasonable amount of time, which helped keep me on track. The Student Success Team was also helpful when I had questions about submitting my final exam or posting my marks. Yes, my final grades were sent to OUAC without any problems, which was really important for my university applications. If anything could be improved, it would be having more video walkthroughs or worked-out examples for complex topics, but overall, OVS made the online learning experience smooth and reliable.

Gr. 12 (current) — Studying at Ontario Virtual School has been a unique experience. I would definitely recommend it. The biggest benefit is the flexibility, being able to work at my own pace really helped me manage school alongside other responsibilities. Whether you're trying to upgrade a mark or fast-track a course, that freedom is super valuable. The lessons are clearly organized, and the video explanations are super helpful. I always knew what I needed to do next, and the platform made it easy to track my progress. The teacher was also very responsive and supportive. Anytime I reached out with a question, I got helpful feedback quickly. One thing I really appreciated was how the course prepared me well for the final exam. Between the practice quizzes and step-by-step lessons, I felt confident by the end. I also liked that I could revisit lessons whenever I needed a refresher.

Gr. 12 (current) — Ontario Virtual School provided a flexible and supportive environment for my Grade 12 English course, ENG4U. I appreciated the freedom to study at my own pace and the accessibility of the online resources. The teachers were knowledgeable and responded extremely quickly to any questions I had. The grading was efficient, and everything you did wrong was thoroughly explained so you could improve. If I were to change one thing, I’d add more group discussions. They were a great way to see how other classmates were doing and feel connected in an online environment. Furthermore, the book The Wars was good, but a writing assignment based on a book of your choice would have been an enjoyable and educational addition that I think would improve the course.

Gr. 12 (current) — Ontario Virtual School (OVS) is a solid choice if you’re looking for flexibility and the ability to learn at your own pace. I wouldn’t say I love it, but I do appreciate the freedom it gives me to balance school with other responsibilities. One thing I wish I knew before enrolling is how self-motivated you need to be—there’s very little structure unless you create it yourself. If I could change one thing, I’d add more live interaction with teachers, like optional Zoom classes or Q&A sessions. Sometimes, waiting for feedback or clarification can slow you down. Overall, OVS is great for independent learners, but it could improve with a bit more support and real-time engagement to help students stay on track and feel more connected.

Gr. 12 — My experience at Ontario Virtual School (OVS) was very positive overall. What stood out to me most was the flexibility it offered. As a student balancing multiple responsibilities, being able to learn at my own pace and complete assignments on my own schedule was a game-changer. I especially appreciated how the course materials were well-organized and easy to follow. The platform was user-friendly, and help was available when needed. If I could change one thing, it would be to offer more interactive opportunities for student engagement, such as virtual study groups or discussions. OVS helped me become a more independent learner and better manage my time, which definitely prepared me for university. Prospective students should expect a self-directed learning environment, but with plenty of support and clear expectations. If you are motivated and disciplined, this school can be a great option.

Gr. 12 (current) — Studying at Ontario Virtual School is a unique experience that offers a lot of flexibility and independence. I kind of love it because it allows me to work at my own pace, which is perfect for balancing other responsibilities or focusing more time on subjects I find challenging. The course materials are clear and easy to follow, and the ability to start anytime is a huge advantage. However, one thing I wish I had known before starting is how much self-motivation it really takes. Without daily classes or regular check-ins, it’s easy to fall behind if you’re not disciplined. If I could change one thing about OVS, I would add more structure—maybe optional live sessions, progress reminders, or interactive group activities. These would help students stay engaged and create more of a school community feel, which is something I sometimes miss in the online environment.

Gr. 12 — I took ENG4U through Ontario Virtual School and had a really great experience. What stood out to me most was how flexible it was. I could work at my own pace, which made it way easier to manage alongside my other schoolwork from my day school. This took a lot of stress off my year and let me plan around tests and assignments from my other classes. The lessons were clear and easy to follow, and I liked how everything was broken down into manageable sections. My teacher gave helpful, specific feedback on assignments and always responded quickly when I had questions, which made me feel supported even though the course was online. I also feel like ENG4U at OVS really helped prepare me for university-level writing and critical thinking. The essay assignments pushed me to go deeper in my analysis, and the course helped me become more confident in expressing my ideas clearly and effectively. Overall, I’d definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a flexible, well-organized English course.

Gr. 12 — The experience was great. The course was well organized, and the teacher was very professional and gave great support. Whenever my son had any questions, concerns, or something he did not understand, she took the time to address it and made sure he was okay moving forward. My son enjoyed the online aspect of the schooling because he could work at his own pace and on his own time. He didn’t feel the pressure of having to learn while being rushed at school in a classroom, or having other students distract him, or even just losing interest. This way, online, he's in charge and learns in his own way and at his own time. OVS is the perfect school for this type of situation and many others for sure. We will definitely use their services again.

The course was super well-organized and everything was laid out clearly by unit, so I always knew what to do. The lessons were easy to follow, even in French, because the instructions and content were written in a simple, straightforward way. It wasn’t stressful at all, and I liked being able to work at my own pace. My teacher was really helpful and always responded quickly to my emails with clear, kind answers. I never felt like I was on my own. The assignments and tests matched the lessons really well, so nothing felt random or confusing. Gr. 12 — Ontario Virtual School provided a flexible and well-structured learning environment that allowed me to balance academics with personal commitments effectively. The Biology 12 course was clear and organized, with engaging video lessons and timely feedback from knowledgeable teachers. This structure encouraged independence, self-discipline, and strong time-management skills, all of which prepared me well for university at the University College London. The administration was responsive and supportive, and I could call anything if I had any concerns or questions. I appreciated the smooth admissions process and basic university counselling support. Overall, Ontario Virtual School is an excellent choice for motivated, self-directed learners seeking flexibility and academic rigor in a virtual setting. I would also heavily recommend this school to anyone applying abroad to the US or UK.

Gr. 12 (current) — OVS was an amazing experience for me personally due to the freedom I had to study autonomously, since that’s when I do my best. You still have many resources if, unlike me, you study with the help of others, but I did not require most of them. I honestly feel like I learned and understood better than at any other school too. The teacher was so kind and understanding. I feel like there isn’t much need for change from my experience because I loved studying that way. Having the opportunity to pause the educational videos and go back whenever I needed to helped me reach my learning goals. I also loved how interactive the lessons are, considering this is online. To add to this, the practice tests and homework really help when it comes time for the tests and exams. And finally, whenever I sought any sort of help from either the teacher or the admin, they were so quick and got things done fast.

Gr. 12 (current) — I loved completing a course with OVS! There was plenty of structure to the course; however, it was self-paced, so I was able to complete it when I had the time. There is nothing in particular that I would change about the school. The teacher of my course was very helpful, answering emails very promptly and marking work within a short timeframe. There are plenty of resources on the website, allowing each student to succeed. There are many practice tests with answers, as well as daily homework to be completed. I believe this course allows every student to be successful as long as they put in the time and effort. Each test gives you plenty of time to complete and succeed on, as well as the labs.

Gr. 12 (current) — Ontario Virtual School (OVS) deserves a full 5-star rating for its flexibility, organization, and overall quality. As a student, I found the platform incredibly easy to navigate, with clear lessons, structured timelines, and helpful resources. The ability to work at my own pace made it possible to balance school with other commitments, like sports or a part-time job. The teachers were supportive and responded quickly to questions, which made the learning experience feel personal, even though it was online. Assignments and tests were fair and clearly connected to the course content. OVS also made it simple to track my progress and submit work. I appreciated how fast they processed final grades and sent transcripts, especially for university applications. Overall, Ontario Virtual School provided a smooth, supportive learning experience that helped me succeed. I highly recommend it to any student looking for a high-quality, flexible online learning option.

Gr. 12 (current) — School was great! I loved the environment where I was able to learn at my own pace. The flexibility allowed me to balance school with other responsibilities in my life, which made a big difference in reducing stress. One thing I wish I had known before starting was how important it is to stay organized and set your own deadlines—since there's so much freedom, it's easy to fall behind if you're not careful. If I could change one thing, I would want more interaction with other students, maybe through optional virtual clubs or group discussions. Still, I loved being able to move through the content when I was ready and not feel rushed or held back. Overall, it was a positive and independent learning experience.

Gr. 9 (current) — I attended OVS for Grade 9 English and Grade 11 College Functions. I chose to attend OVS because traditional classroom instruction wasn’t working for me. I have ADHD and Autism, and my day school teachers were not accommodating my needs or supporting my IEP. By attending OVS, I was able to take responsibility for my learning and work at my own pace. This meant I could watch lessons late at night or on weekends and rewatch them if I didn’t understand something. I could print the slides for review and highlight important information—there was no need to take notes in a traditional way. This approach helped me stay focused and on track. Whenever I needed clarification on homework or assignments, my teachers responded within 48 hours with detailed and clear instructions. If I still needed extra help, 1:1 virtual tutoring was available. The teachers were very supportive and never frustrated with my questions or learning needs. I have recommended OVS to several families and friends who are struggling with the traditional school setting. OVS can change how you view learning, improve your study skills, and explicitly teach you the steps needed to become a confident and effective learner.

Gr. 12 (current) — I started OVS (Ontario Virtual School) in November of 2024, and ever since then, I have loved how flexible it was towards my schedule, giving me the freedom and choice to do my work at a time that most benefited me and my learning across all subjects, given my different situations going on outside school. This flexibility gave me plenty of time to truly learn the courses and helped me succeed with good grades. The lessons were very understandable, and the assessments were made in a way that was challenging but also ensured we were fully prepared for them as well. Given all this, I would recommend OVS to anyone, as it truly helped me propel my academics, push me towards my goals, and gave me a strong understanding of everything in the courses I took going into university this year.

Gr. 12 — OVS was amazing; extremely easy to use, accessible, and with very fast response times and grading. I couldn’t have gone to a better private school for a very important course I decided to take. When I was initially doing tests, the lessons and teacher help were extremely efficient and helpful; I had no trouble solving very complex problems. Also, for the exam, the process to find and use a proctor was very quick, easy, and secure. I knew they needed to be sure, and they wasted no time helping me find a great proctor and commence my exam. Lastly, grading was extremely helpful and fast. I understood exactly what I did right and wrong, and I worked toward being better throughout the course, which is why I improved.

Gr. 12 (current) — I strongly enjoyed my time at Ontario Virtual School. It was an extremely beneficial and enjoyable learning experience. The flexibility it offered was a game-changer, allowing me to balance my studies with other commitments. The course was well-designed and engaging, and the instructors were knowledgeable and supportive. If I could change one thing, it would be the addition of more structure throughout the learning journey. While the self-paced nature of the courses was a major draw, it also required a great deal of self-discipline and organization. Having more built-in deadlines, check-ins, or structured study plans could be helpful for students who thrive with a bit more guidance. Gr. 10 (current) — My experience at Ontario Virtual School has been really positive. I would say I loved it. The flexibility is what makes it so great. Being able to work at my own pace and fit the course around my day school schedule made things so much easier. It really helped reduce stress and gave me the freedom to manage my time the way that worked best for me. One thing I wish I had known before starting was just how independent the learning would be. While the teachers are super responsive and helpful when I have questions, you do need to be organized and motivated to stay on track. That said, it helped me build good time management skills. If I could change one thing, I might add a bit more structure or suggested timelines to help students pace themselves better throughout the course, especially for those who might be new to online learning. It’s easy to fall behind if you don’t plan ahead, so having optional checkpoints or reminders could be useful.

Gr. 12 (current) — Ontario Virtual School has been a convenient and flexible option for me. I’d say I kind of love it; it’s great for working at your own pace, especially if you have a busy schedule or need extra time to fully understand the material. One thing I wish I had known before starting is how independent the learning is. There’s no regular live teaching or constant check-ins, so you have to stay motivated and organized on your own. That can be a bit tough at times. If I could change one thing, it would be to fix the lag in the student challenges. Sometimes they freeze or don’t load properly, which makes it hard to complete them and can be really discouraging when you lose. It would help make the learning experience feel more connected and less isolated. Overall, OVS is a solid choice for students who are self-disciplined and want flexibility, but a bit more support and connection would make it even better.

Gr. 10 (current) — Ontario Virtual School is an amazing school, allowing students to learn the required materials in a timely manner, as well as effectively. I love OVS because it helped me improve not only my skills in both the courses I took (grade 10 French and grade 11 English). OVS found innovative ways that allowed me to learn and grow as a student, as well as succeed in both of my courses. I don’t believe there is anything I would change about the school; everything is very well organized, teachers are very helpful, and the lessons are very detailed. All of the assignments are very easily accessible, and it is very easy to understand what is being asked of you. I am very grateful for the experience I’ve had at this school. The exam is another part of the course. I was required to book an exam for both grade 10 and 11 courses. Gr. 12 (current) — I only took one course on OVS, which was MCV4U, and I can say it was very flexible. It is great for me, as I am busy managing both my day school and many extracurriculars, such as clubs, sports, research, and a job. Honestly, I loved OVS; it gives you the option to book 1-on-1 tutoring with your teacher to ensure your understanding of the course and help you develop overall when completing coursework. One thing that I wish I knew before was that you have 365 days to complete the course, giving you time for other things. Honestly, I don't think it needs any changes, but if I were to suggest something, it would be the addition of more structure and check-ins to help students stay motivated.

Gr. 9 (current) — Ontario Virtual School is great if you’re looking for flexibility. I’d say I kind of love it—it’s ideal for independent learners who want to set their own pace. One thing I wish I had known before enrolling is how self-directed it really is. There aren’t live lessons, so staying motivated and organized is key. If I could change something, I’d add more structure—maybe regular check-ins with teachers or virtual study sessions to help students stay connected and on track. The courses are clearly laid out and easy to follow, which makes learning manageable, but the experience can feel a bit isolating at times. Overall, it’s a strong option if you’re disciplined and comfortable working on your own, but it could benefit from more interaction.

IIf there’s anything that could be improved, it would be to have more social activities like discussions and debates, which would make studying more fun. The coaching was fantastic and there is no need for any changes. Overall, my experience was really good. My teacher was supportive, and I learned how to be well-organized and study in an open space, which made me more resourceful and responsible. In the beginning, it was a bit challenging to organize myself and learn from the classes on my own, but later I got used to it and it became fun. I am really thankful to OVS and my teacher.

Gr. 12 (current) — Overall, I’ve had a really great experience with Ontario Virtual School. I wasn’t sure what to expect at first, since I’d never done an online school before, but it ended up being a perfect fit for me. One of the best things about OVS is how flexible it is. You can work at your own pace, which is amazing if you have a busy schedule or just want to move faster (or slower) depending on the subject. I loved being able to plan out my own study times and not feel pressured by a rigid timetable. The platform itself is really easy to use. Everything is clearly laid out the lessons, the assignments, the due dates. I never felt confused about what I was supposed to be doing. The video lessons are well-explained and the teachers usually give lots of examples, which helped me understand the material more deeply. I also appreciated that the teachers responded fairly quickly when I had questions, even though everything is online. If I had to pick one thing I wish I’d known earlier, it’s that you need to be self-motivated. It’s super convenient and flexible, but that also means you have to be responsible for keeping yourself on track. That said, if you’re organized and stay on top of your deadlines, it’s honestly a great setup.

Gr. 11 (current) — I had a really good experience with Ontario Virtual School. The course was well-organized, and I liked that I could work at my own pace, which made it easier to balance school with other commitments. The teacher was helpful and marked things quickly, and the practice tests really helped me feel confident for the final exam. One thing I wish I knew before starting was how important time management would be. Since it’s all self paced, you really have to stay on top of things yourself. If I could change one thing, I’d suggest adding weekly reminders or a recommended schedule to help students stay on track. Overall, I’d definitely recommend OVS for anyone looking to upgrade a course or fit learning into a busy schedule.

Gr. 12 (current) — Ontario Virtual School offers a lot of flexibility, which is perfect if you’re already in a day school or just have a busy schedule or prefer learning at your own pace. I like it, it gives me the freedom to study when I’m most focused. However, one thing I wish I knew before starting was how little structure there actually is. If you’re not self-disciplined, it’s easy to fall behind. I’d change that by adding weekly check-ins or suggested timelines to help keep students on track I personally fell behind a few times but was able to pick myself up since there were no specific due dates. The courses themselves are great and easy to follow, but the lack of real interaction with teachers can make it feel a bit isolating, although I understand that eLearning is supposed to be that way. In my case the lack of interaction with teachers benefited me since i am a little anxious and i prefer working on my own. Overall, it’s great if you’re independent and motivated, but it could really benefit from more structure.

Gr. 12 — My overall experience was a challenging but ultimately rewarding one. There were very clear goals on what to complete, and the work was laid out in an easily digestible way. There were struggles to complete assignments of course, but I came out of it more knowledgeable about the subject I was studying. The practice exams really helped me with the test and were a great way to prepare. The essays were very interesting things to write as I came across many different opinions when writing about something. A prospective student should expect lots of work and slideshows. I had a nice time with this course. It helped me express my thoughts and opinions in the form of essays. It taught me a lot of things about English that I didn't know before.

Gr. 12 — What I enjoyed most about taking a course at OVS was the degree to which there was a balance of independent learning with having dependable help when I needed it, especially when I had a lot going on with a busy schedule of other classes and extracurriculars. I enrolled in OVS while attending my day school because I appreciated that I was able to take a course not offered at my day school, such as kinesiology, and OVS made this easy. The instructors were fantastic — they were always quick to respond to my queries and provided very useful feedback on my assignments. I was never left waiting or unsure of anything. I was graded quickly within the next 24-48 hours, keeping me encouraged to continue. I utilized the homework books and the online resource packs — both were a huge help with studying for the final exam and learning important concepts. The website was very user-friendly as well, and that made the entire experience hassle-free. Something that would make the experience even more effective is to have an option to simply view the slideshow content without going through the entire written module. At times I just needed a quick rundown or visual overview of the key ideas and having the ability to navigate the slides separately would have made studying more efficient and quick. That being said, it didn’t detract at all from just how efficient the overall experience was. The student success staff were also very helpful whenever there were questions I had regarding deadlines. Additionally, the student success staff was well organized and timely, especially regarding sending the final grades to OUAC, and it was completed without any complications. If you are seeking a flexible, reliable, and supportive means of earning credit, I 100% suggest OVS. It is professional, organized, and ideally suited to independent students who want help when help is needed.

Gr. 11 (current) — Ontario Virtual School is fantastic for anyone who has a busy schedule due to work, or like me, sport, being able to move at your own pace benefited me a lot, especially in a class like English, which I took. I was able to plan my lessons around my schedule, I didn't feel the stress of looming deadlines and took my time with my assignments, helping me do better on them. My teacher was excellent, responding in a reasonable time and providing very helpful feedback that helped me improve my writing, I would definitely recommend Ontario virtual school for everyone especially for classes like English, Law or other more writing based courses as the lessons that were provided for my grade 11 English course were engaging and informative, and the assignments were easy to understand and very fun to do. I definitely recommend Ontario Virtual School.

Gr. 12 (current) — I had a really great experience with Ontario Virtual School. I loved how flexible it was and how I could work at my own pace. It was super helpful for managing my time, especially with other responsibilities and schoolwork. The best part of the course was how clear and organized everything was. The lessons were easy to follow, and the practice tests and online textbooks really helped me study. My teacher, Ms. Garcha, was amazing! She always responded to my questions quickly and marked my work on time. She was very supportive and made the course feel less stressful. I used the practice tests and exams, which helped a lot in preparing for the final. The school office and student success team were also very helpful whenever I had questions or needed support. And yes, my marks were sent to OUAC for university admissions with no problems. Overall, I really enjoyed OVS and would definitely recommend it to other students.

Gr. 11 (current) — My experience with OVS was amazing! The teacher was very kind and provided detailed, helpful feedback on all my assignments, which helped me improve every time. The proctoring process was smooth and efficient—I didn’t experience any technical issues or confusion, which made test-taking stress-free. I truly believe OVS is a fantastic place to learn, especially because of how well it explains course content. Even if you’re taking a completely new or unfamiliar subject, the material is presented in a way that’s easy to understand and follow. The flexibility and structure of the course allowed me to learn at my own pace while still feeling supported. Overall, I really enjoyed my time here and will definitely continue to take more courses through OVS in the future!

Gr. 12 (current) — I had a great experience taking SCH4U (Grade 12 Chemistry) through Ontario Virtual School (OVS). The course was clearly laid out and easy to follow, with each unit broken down into manageable lessons that included videos, visuals, and review questions. I really liked how flexible the pacing was—it gave me the freedom to work around my schedule and study at my own speed. The content itself was thorough and well-explained. The teacher was very prompt with answering questions, marking tests and assignments, and was very helpful with guidance needed as a Grade 12 student. Overall, I would definitely recommend OVS for anyone looking to take SCH4U. It’s a solid course that helps you build a strong foundation in chemistry while offering the flexibility of online learning.

Gr. 12 (current) — Ontario Virtual School was an incredibly well-operated experience. My teacher responded to my emails very quickly, and all my assignments were marked in less than one day. Even my exams were marked in less than 12 hours! My favourite part about OVS is how easy it is to sign in and access my coursework. The website is very organized, and it is easy to see which lessons and assignments I still need to complete. Furthermore, I love how it tells you how far into the course you are and how many days are left to complete the course. This really kept me motivated throughout my time taking Grade 12 French, and it allowed me to stay on track with my goals. I took this OVS course instead of doing it at my day school because my timetable did not allow for me to have this course at the right period, and it was such a great decision. Now I am up a grade 12 credit before actually entering Grade 12, thanks to OVS! Lastly, the practice tests and exam were so helpful, and they were so similar to what the actual exam is like. I have nothing bad to say about my time with OVS, and will definitely be referring many of my friends to them.

Gr. 12 — Taking a course with OVS was a great experience for me. I chose OVS because my regular day school had no open spots in the online chemistry course I needed. One of the best parts of learning with OVS was how organized everything was and how quickly the teacher responded to questions. My teacher was always kind, helpful, and quick to mark assignments, which made the course run smoothly. I also used the practice tests and online textbooks, which helped deepen my understanding of the material. The school office and student success team were also very helpful throughout the process. My final marks were sent to Ontario colleges for admissions. Honestly, the experience was perfect, and I wouldn’t change a thing.

Gr. 12 (current) — My experience at Ontario Virtual School has been nothing but positive, which exceeded my expectations going into the school, especially for its low cost. Of course, being an asynchronous school has the advantages of being able to complete work at your own pace, however, you lose the typical school experience of having live lectures with a teacher, or being able to talk with and develop a meaningful connection with other students. If there was one thing that I would say could improve the student experience, it would be having the ability to have on-platform communication spaces between other students at the school. OVS is as good of a student experience as you'd get if you are an international student or absolutely have to be virtual, however, if you are a domestic student, OVS is best as a supplement to taking regular day school courses.

Gr. 12 — I was impressed with the variety of practice tests and exams with answers that were available, as they allowed me to prepare for my final assessments with confidence. Additionally, the quick forwarding of my marks to OUAC/OCAS and my day school kept me informed of my progress and allowed me to make any necessary adjustments to my study plan. Overall, I would say that my experience at Ontario Virtual School was a positive one. The focus on customer service and support, combined with the comprehensive resources available, made for an enjoyable and productive learning experience. However, as everyone's experiences and needs are unique, there may have been additional support or resources that I wanted but were not available at the time. A prospective student at Ontario Virtual School can expect a high-quality, student-centered learning experience with a focus on customer service and support. The school provides comprehensive course materials, including practice tests and exams with answers, to help prepare for final assessments. The fast response times from teachers and office staff are a valuable asset for students who need support, and the quick forwarding of marks ensures that students are always informed of their progress.

Gr. 11 (current) — I enrolled in SBI3U in February of 2021 at the Ontario Virtual School. I had taken many online courses in the past through my home school, but I decided to try OVS for Grade 11 Biology. This proved to be a great decision, as my time learning with OVS was excellent. I really enjoyed the site format, as it was accessible and easy to navigate. I liked being able to learn and work independently, and having control over when and where I completed the course. Whenever I needed something clarified or emailed my teacher with questions, she answered promptly and thoroughly. Through the lessons, homework questions, practice tests, and teacher support, I always felt confident in my knowledge going into assessments. I was satisfied with my teacher's efficient marking and enjoyed being able to track my progress in the course. Overall, my experience at the Ontario Virtual School was very positive, and I would recommend their courses to my family and friends.

Gr. 11 (current) — My entire experience working with the Ontario Virtual School was great. I completed the SBI3U course through this school, and overall I was delighted with the course. The online platform perfectly supported my learning style, as I much prefer to complete tasks on my own time and organize my own schedule. The website itself was extremely user-friendly, easy to understand, and organized. I loved the structure of the course, the freedom it gave me to complete it without due dates, and the control I had over my own success. The only thing I would have changed about my experience didn’t really have anything to do with the school itself, but more so with my own schedule, as I sometimes didn’t have a quiet place to listen and complete my lessons, while still enrolled in regular high school at the time. That challenge aside, my experience taking a course at OVS was a great one, and I would definitely introduce it to any friends eager to try something new, or who prefer an online approach to learning.

Because of the pandemic, I started to know about OVS. To be honest, OVS is the first virtual school I have ever enrolled in. Therefore, I was nervous and a little afraid. However, OVS took my breath away. I realized how virtual school can be so informative and the teacher can also be so supportive. Besides that, I also realize how great the concept of virtual school is. I learned a lot from OVS, not only from the academic aspect but also from the mindset aspect. Now, I am more independent and open-minded than before. I think that is the attraction of OVS. I appreciate my experience in OVS which is like a beacon to my path, so I no longer wander. OVS is life changing!

I think Ontario Virtual School has a great student experience. I loved the fact that it was flexible and I could adjust it to my needs, even more because my schedule was full and there were days where I could take four classes while others none. I do wish I could have talked to other students that took my same class so I had a more realistic experience, but I also enjoy working alone so it was easier for me to concentrate and get good grades because I didn't have to depend on others. Finally, my english is not perfect and I took the chemistry SCH4U so I thought it was going to be harder but the teacher used simple vocabulary and the subject vocabulary was explained throughout the course.

Though Ontario Virtual School is an online school it is very well structured. The school itself has lots of different courses for students from 9-12. I did a grade 12 International  Business course and I really enjoyed it. I found the course material to be engaging, with lots of different techniques to help me learn the material such as slideshows, videos, and textbook reading. There were also lots of assessments in different formats that were really fun and interesting. There were assignments that were quite different from each other and they really made me use my resources, for we needed to make a crossword for the unit and in another one we tracked a cargo ship. There were also some forum questions in which you would answer a specific question and then chat with your peers about the different responses making it feel like a real school. There was great communication between the teacher and I. I had some technical difficulties when trying to submit some of my assignments but the teacher was very understanding and helped me with a workaround. Overall I would definitely recommend this course and the school to anyone who wishes to further their education.

Ontario virtual school provides a friendly and co-operative environment making it no less than a family where instructors are dedicated and devoted to shape the future of uncut gems. The online classes provided by OVS allows learners to complete the syllabus at their own pace with comfortable time limit. The way of communicating with instructors through emails develops writing skills as well as etiquette of formal writing which is not only useful during the course but also helps throughout the life. OVS is the best platform for the students who are graduating and wish to upgrade any of the subject required for the admission to certain program of a university.

Ontario Virtual School has been an amazing experience. There is not one thing that I would change about it. I was so used to traditional schooling however, when I started at OVS I encountered helpful and supportive teachers, an easily approachable system and staff, and work that was at the right level where it challenged me but made me successful. Everything on OVS is easy- from accessing your work to asking help if anything goes wrong. The structure of the work is great. One thing I wish I knew about the school is the teachers require 24 hours to email you back and 48 hours for work to be marked however my teacher was quicker than that.

Ontario Virtual School is one of a kind. It offers various benefits such as nice teachers, amazing staff for OUAC questions and more. If you put in work, it truly pays off and they value hard work. If I were to do it again, no doubt I would attend OVS again! I needed to upgrade some grade 12 courses and I thought that this school would be perfect for that. The school offers many courses for all high school grades. The lesson plans are all there for you and there is a lesson count to let you know how many you have left to complete, which is a handy progress tracker. I do feel like the courses prepared me well for my next steps in life. There were just a few lesson glitches but most of it was fixed as long as I let someone know about it.

I needed to upgrade some grade 12 courses and I thought that this school would be perfect for that. Since it was online, I was able to complete the course at my own pace and they gave plenty of time to complete it (1 year). The teachers are very responsive and helpful with any questions or concerns I had. The school offers many courses for all high school years. As well, they give you a choice between an e-book or a physical book that they mail out to you. The lesson plans are all there for you and there is a lesson count to let you know how many you have left to complete which is handy. There isn't much I would change about this school because everything is fairly accessible since it's all online. There were just a few lesson glitches but most of it was fixed as long as I let someone know about it. I do feel like the courses prepared me well for my next steps in life.

Ontario Virtual School was an excellent step in my educational pathway. It gave me the opportunity to study at my own pace while challenging me to take steps to critically think. Completing Grade 12-U Bio through OVS prepared me for a Biology course I took in my first year of University. I felt prepared and could also use my old notes to help me as I progressed in University. Throughout the course, I really enjoyed the balance between the theoretical lectures along with the visual and graphic appearances of the course. This allowed me to understand the material in multiple methods to gain the most from my experience in the course. A prospective student should expect to feel welcomed and in control of their education at OVS. Creating a timeline that is manageable and works best for me, was huge to my experience.

Ontario virtual high school was the best high school I attended, teachers were so helpful and able to understand me. This school helped me achieve my goals and attend the university of my dreams. My experience at Ontario virtual school (one i'll never forget) when I needed to finish all my courses immediately because the deadline to apply for university was near, is that they marked my work really fast and the teachers here helped me and gave my feedback on what I needed to improve in order to get my grades up.

My experience at OVS was relatively great. The flexibility with how students could learn the course content whenever they pleased was a feature that I found greatly beneficial. Being in complete control of your own learning would offer intrinsic motivation for students and as a result, they would be more motivated to learn the content better. The only thing about OVS that I would change is to increase the number of practice problems available, so students could be better prepared for the individual tests. OVS did indeed prepare me for my life's next steps, I'm still using the knowledge I gained from the course within my university courses. Students should expect to receive a mark that reflects the amount effort they put within the course. People have the wrong perception about online schools, they are in no way easier than classes in school, its the same curriculum and content, so a future student should take it seriously.

I enjoyed the Ontario Virtual School. I took 2 courses during grade 12 here and I was working at the time. My final year was very stressful. Taking courses online helped a lot because I was able to work at my own pace. I took English online and I had a much better experience with OVS than I did with my high school. Since I was able to work on my own pace I was able to dedicate more time to specific things. I was able to work during winter and spring break, and really get a lot of things done. I highly recommend OVS to any seniors looking to ease their workload. This also provides the added benefit of having more time to participate in extracurricular activities.

Ontario Virtual School has provided me with a very valuable learning experience. The best thing about OVS is the amount of content and material provided for self-study. The course is done online entirely so clear material is something very important for students. As a student, you often get stuck on a few things, but I was VERY pleased with quick responses from the teachers who often were willing to explain things from scratch. If there is one thing students need to keep in mind is that self-motivation is necessary when it comes to any online course. With that being said, with the efforts of both the student and teacher, it will be a very pleasant experience for sure.

Ontario virtual school provided me with one of the best experiences. They cared about my marks and helping me in all the ways that they could. I was on a time limit to finish the course and they helped me in many ways to ensure that i would still do well in the course and getting it done during the short time period. They went out of their way to help and i appreciated it a lot. I was so happy i chose this school as my experience was one of the best I've ever had. I still to this day use what i learned in the course on an everyday basis. And the way the teachers helped me and went out of there way to ensure i would be alright after i was done the course was absolutely amazing.
