Acadecap has registered the school to The Student Vote program. This project provides our students with an opportunity to experience the democratic process firsthand, and practice the habits of informed and engaged citizenship. The Student Vote program applies the concept of the ‘teachable moment’ using the official election as a backdrop to the parallel election. By matching real life events with school life, this project can motivate our students into becoming informed and active citizens. Our hope is that through instruction students will enter as citizens into the community with knowledge, understanding and an enhanced sense of empowerment. Through the campaign activities and resulting vote, we look forward to inspiring debates on a varity of topics. Students will be encouraged to have conversations about civic responsibility in school as well as at home. Students will organize a campaign, and there will be a debate followed by voting on September 20th.
