On Sunday, February 16th, Fieldstone Day School students participated in the Legion Public Speaking Contest and won first place in all 3 Classes at the Branch Level: Grades 1-3, 4-6, and 7-9. Our students are all moving on to the Zone Level on Sunday, March 8th.
It was obvious that each student had invested many hours of writing and rehearsing into his/her speech. Every presentation seemed well organized, thoughtful, and heartfelt. The audience learned not only about complex topics, but also a little more about the perspective and interests of the speakers. One of the benefits of a small private school like ours is the ability of teachers to work with each student to help him or her to shine. At Fieldstone, students are encouraged and enabled to hone their unique talents as writers and presenters. These skills will serve them long after they graduate from our school.
