How Jehovah Jireh Christian School sees itself

The school administration answered our questions

Who are you, as a school?

"Jehovah Jireh Christian School provides students with a dynamic education and individual attention that encourages them to work independently and grow in godly character. JJCS comes alongside parents to nurture children in God's ways. We use the Accelerated Christian Education curriculum plus additional enrichment in Literature, Science, and Math, and have other programs for French, Music, Art, and Swimming. Its scenic property includes a soccer field, basketball, and playground as part of its many facilities."

  • Students learn French with the Rosetta Stone Educational Program.
  • Students can receive individual piano lessons taught by a highly qualified music teacher.
  • Students receive two units of Swimming Lessons in our on-site indoor swimming pool.

What do you do differently and uniquely well?

"Because of the low ratio of students to teacher at JJCS, students receive immediate and individual instruction to assist continual learning. Students also participate in small group learning. We also have great Pastoral leadership that also cares for the emotional and spiritual well-being of each student."

What key junctures in your school's history have most shaped its present?

"JJCS opened up in September 2017. In 2019 we had our first Junior Kindergarten class and also had two international students. Unfortunately, we had to close the school in the winter of 2020 as all schools had to due to Covid-19. However, our students were blessed to be able to take their curriculum home and successfully complete their school year. In 2020/2021 our students also had a successful year despite the interruptions of Covid-19. The ACE curriculum is set up in a way that allows the student to do their work at home when necessary."

What type of student is a good fit for your school?

"Students that need more individual help academically will benefit from JJCS' small class sizes. Parents that are concerned about their children being subjected to the current Ontario Sexual Education will also benefit from JJCS' biblical and moral views. Parents can rest knowing that they are the ones who are making the decisions for their children and not the government. At JJCS their children are protected from the inappropriate behaviours that public schools are promoting."

Under what conditions would you advise a family against choosing your school?

"JJCS will not be suitable for families who do not share the Christian faith and values as the students will be exposed daily to the Bible and memorizing Scripture as part of their education. We also have morning devotions and weekly chapel times where we sing Christian songs and learn from the Bible.

Even though we do have weekly gym activities and offer Swimming Lessons two units per school year, we do not offer team sports."

How would you characterize your school's image amongst the public?

"JJCS has strong Christian values where each student is given individual attention to meet their academic needs as well as their social and spiritual development. JJCS cultivates and encourages a strong sense of community where students learn to love, honour, and respect their peers and those in authority. JJCS provides a nurturing learning environment where students are challenged to thrive academically but also to develop their faith and character."

What aspect of your school is underappreciated?

"Teaching from a biblical worldview is important to JJCS. Students are equipped with sound teaching that gives them the tools they need to support their Christian faith which many times is questioned by the humanistic worldview that is prevalent in society. Students at JJCS will not only be taught from a biblical worldview, but will learn how to defend their faith with scientific facts from biblical creationists and scientists."

What might families find surprising about your school?

"The staff of JJCS are committed to creating a learning environment that cultivates a love for learning by providing hands-on experiences that makes learning fun."

What improvements or changes has your school made recently?

"This past year we built up our school library with novels, resource books, and magazines for the students to read in their free time. We also provided further enrichment in creative writing and literature."
