The big picture on Garderie Bonne Aventure Preschool

We questioned the school administration

1. Who are you, as a school?

"Garderie Bonne Aventure was opened in 2012. We welcome children ages 6 months to 5 years. It is our belief that we are stronger as a community. Much emphasis is placed on family life at Bonne Aventure, as we ensure that children across age groups know each other and have the opportunity to share times during the school day together. As a school, we are pleased to make ourselves available to families each day, and to create opportunities for them to connect with one another."

  • 8 spacious classrooms with large windows
  • Lots of outdoor and indoor spaces to play
  • Located on the third floor
  • Meals made fresh daily by an in-house chef
  • Weekly specialist activities: sports, music, yoga
  • Environmental stewardship
  • Focus on nuturing independence and school readiness
  • Bilingual
  • Families report it feels like a second home
  • Dedicated staff - no replacement agencies used

2. What do you do differently and uniquely well?

We focus on the whole child and fostering their development while also supporting their family. Our program incorporates art activities to encourage self expression and support fine motor skill development. The administrative staff is always available to answer questions or respond to requests. The majority of our staff has been with us for more than 5 years providing familiarity to children and families. Our center does not use replacement agencies. Educator absences are filled by other members of the educator team.

3. What tradeoffs has your school made to serve families in this way?

Our priority is to provide each child a unique experience that supports their unique talents, abilities and needs. We look to partner with local producers to stock our kitchen and with local organizations and companies to support our community.

4. What key junctures in your school's history have most shaped its present?

Information not yet available.

5. What type of student is a good fit for your school?

Families who are looking for an enriching experience who recognize that schedules and routines help a child feel grounded and secure.

6. Under what conditions would you advise a family against choosing your school?

Families that require a more flexible schedule and more one-on-one care.

7. To your knowledge, why do families choose your school over others?

Many of our families choose our daycare because they know friends or family that have attended. We also hear from families that they like and appreciate the large, open spaces, welcoming atmosphere and level of care.

8. How would you characterize your school's image amongst the public?

We are well known for our inviting nature and willingness to discuss and respond to requests and inquiries.

9. What aspect of your school is underappreciated?

Our educator team is our greatest asset. They work together to bring out the best in all of our children.

10. What might families find surprising about your school?

Families don't often know that we are a member of Aliment du Québec.

11. What improvements or changes has your school made recently?

In 2020 we installed new turf on our main terrace.

12. How will your school change in the next 5 years?

We intend to continue serving our families and our community.
