West Coast: 1-Week Wilderness Backpacking Journey

Come along on this exciting backpacking expedition and develop the outdoor skills you need to become a true hiker – while improving your leadership and teamwork skills!

Your group will support each other as you hike up steep slopes and learn to live out of a backpack. With the help of your instructors, the skills you learn in the backcountry will also help you in school or at home, and the memories of breathtaking mountain views and fun moments with your peers will last forever.

Area & activities

This expedition will take you through the Pemberton mountains, which sit on the traditional territories of the Líl̓wat Nation who has inhabited the land since time immemorial.

The course begins with getting to know your team members and an introduction to backcountry living. Our experienced instructors will teach you everything you need to know for your adventure, including how to pack an expedition backpack, use an outdoor stove, build shelters, personal hygiene, minimal impact camping, and how to travel over various terrain both on and off-trail. 

By the end of the course, you will make decisions with minimal input from instructors. Your supportive instructors will also help you become more confident and reflect on the skills you have developed.
