(5) Student Experience

I absolutely love Virtual High School. It is an online school that allows the students to progress at their own pace. For subjects where writing is involved the teachers will most of the time allow you to create a draft through which you can have the opportunity to get feedback and then you can submit the final version of that specific assignment. I love how VHS gives access to an online tutoring program that's free of charge. VHS and the online tutoring program really helped me get good marks on my grades and geared me towards a successful life ahead. The fact that I can get up every day and feel confident in my schoolwork and supported by my teachers is a great feeling.

(5) School Leadership

I have tremendous respect for the headmaster and all the staff of VHS. The teachers are very hands-on with their students even though they are not physically there in person. It's very hard to connect on a deeper level with your teachers through online learning, however, I find that VHS dealt with that problem with grace. For the somewhat short amount of time I've attended this school, I feel that I've connected with each teacher more than I have ever would in a brick-and-mortar school.

(5) Teaching

With all the courses that I've done so far, I definitely feel that there was a good amount of communication for the expectation on assignments. Each assignment has a specific sheet of paper that states what's required of you, I like that I'm able to review all the requirements before submitting. Every comment that I have gotten from a teacher has always had something I need to improve on, even when I get 100%. I love that there is always feedback, always a way to improve, even when I've met the requirements for an assignment. You are always learning with VHS and it's an amazing journey to take especially with the teachers there supporting you. Virtual high school is the reason why I'm good at school.

(5) Academics

The work is sometimes hard especially when you get into the older grades, but it's a good challenge. I definitely think that everything virtual high school teaches is very useful for later on in life. All the course content is extremely detailed and helps me be prepared for life after high school. There are multiple course options offered by virtual high school and you can take them at any time! There are also different levels in certain subjects gearing you towards either university or college. I find it so great that I am able to predict and organize when I do a specific course when I hope to finish the course and most importantly how I approach a course. Therefore its not only the course content and the teachers that prepare me for later on in life, but I am also setting myself up through organizing when I would like to do certain assignments based on when I would like to hopefully finish the course.

(5) School Life

The first thing I would start off with is how to use the online program. I would show the group of visitors how you can communicate with your teachers through the emailing system and with your classmates through the discussions post list. After that, I would go through with them how to submit an assignment to the teacher through dropbox. When that's all completed I would probably like to introduce them to the grade 9 art class where all the beautiful artwork is showcased by the students. This class is a magical place and really shows you the heart of Virtual high school. In the end, I really would want to show everything that VHS stands for, which is to provide a more flexible education for students and student athletes such as myself.

(5) Admissions

The admissions process was extremely easy! All I had to do was sign up for a course then within 24 hours I was admitted into the school. I then had to take a course content release quiz that's about the school rules to have access to my course content. It's that simple! The whole process isn't stressful at all, in fact, it's quite relaxing because there is no exam at the beginning of the process evaluating how good you are. You let your previous marks from other grades speak for you. When I went into grade 9 at VHS I had poor grades due to the fact that I didn't have enough time to complete the given assignments. Now I'm less stressed and I can focus on my dream of becoming a dancer.
