The location, while somewhat isolated, is accessible. There seem to be places that mobile students could go, off-campus. On the occasion when there have been after-school functions like the Christmas concert or the Talent Show, my daughter and her friends were able to go to the small cafe across the street from the school for dinner.
The location is in Vaughan/Woodbridge which is outside of Toronto. From the outside it doesn’t really look like a school because it is tucked in. Right now though they are in the process of renovating the outside so in a couple years it will be more visible.
The school is located in residential area, with few small eateries within walking distance of the school. Fortunately the lunch period is not very long, so students cannot be away from the school for very long, it’s easier to eat at the school. In grade 9 students are not allowed to leave the property without permission. I notice that with other high schools, students have very long lunch periods and they go to local malls. I like how TD Christian manages the students in Grade 9 by not allowing them to leave property. In Grade 10 students are allowed to leave school property at lunch. I'm impressed that transportation is included in cost of the tuition, so students who live far from the school can attend.
The school is situated in a busy neighborhood. The grade 9 students are typically all day in the school as they are not allowed to leave the grounds. The older students get out during lunch time on some days. The school participates in several sports events with the York Region. This gives the students and staff exposure to the neighborhood schools in the same area.
I love the location of this school. There is an amazing bakery called Nino D’Aversa right across the street. They actually serve one of the best wood-oven pizzas in the Greater Toronto Area. You can see them from the front entrance to the school. This spot also has amazing homemade gelato for dessert. Although TD also has a great cafeteria with assortment of foods, this bakery spot does make it easy to venture out for a quick bite at lunch time.
The school is located in a safe, peaceful, residential area. On the lunch time, starting from Grade 10, students can go out into the neighbouring community to have a lunch. Lunch time is very short--only 20 min--but for the students that is enough time to go to an Italian Bakery called "Nino's" that is located just across the street from the school.
