I really enjoyed my time at Ottawa Christian School, I feel that as a student I felt appreciated and understood, something that was very important to me and my learning. The Christian messages portrayed were done so in a way that was practical to my life and the staff were all excellent examples of how to be kind to one another. It set me up very well academically but still allowed me to be a kid and have fun while learning with various mediums. As someone who specifically loves the arts, I felt I had many opportunities to explore various ways to express this, as well as felt welcomed to take part in other activities should I chose. The student life is very positive and nurturing.
I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Ottawa Christian School. Teachers were always ready to help students, making studying and learning less stressful. They made classes interesting and related it to real-life examples, helping students engage with the curriculum. OCS also has a great atmosphere. Throughout the school year, special events are planned by the older students to create school spirit and to allow for older and younger students to get to know each other and create a strong intra-school community. Reading buddies and Play Day are two examples of this. When I was in JK, SK, and Grade 1, the teachers would plan special activities related to course content in order for us to visit other classrooms and areas of the school so we felt more comfortable interacting with students and teachers from other grades. The chapel also helped to accomplish this, as everyone gathered together once a week. These activities helped to make school less intimidating as a little kid and made me excited to go to school every day.
