The academics at Hudson represent an amazing balance between social life while getting an education. The work load is heavy, but with Hudson's three semester school system every student is given more than enough time to complete the tasks given to them. Since I've been at Hudson I've realized the depth that teachers take for to ensure a better understanding for the students. In my past experience, teachers provide formulas and tell you to put the numbers in and get your answer. While in my first math course at Hudson I was extremely shocked to see teachers actually explaining why the formula works rather than just telling students to plug numbers in.
I am challenged in my everyday classes. The three semester system is also really unique, and allows you to focus on less classes at a time, which I find is much less stressful than balancing eight courses all year. For the second semester of my Grade 10 year, I was able to take a grade 11 math course, which I felt I was ready to take since I had already done grade 10 during the first semester.. I enjoy it even though it is the most challenging work I’ve done in school! I love taking my math and science courses and I feel that anything I learn in those classes will be useful later in life, because I do want to work in STEM.
At Hudson College, we follow the government-mandated curriculum. However, I find that the teachers give a good balance of homework where it's enough that you're still practicing the content that you learned in class, but not to the point that it's all you’re doing every evening and you still have time for out of school activities. Hudson College also offers a wide range of courses from the arts like business, media, and visual. To your sciences like chemistry, physics, and biology. Then there's calculus, advanced functions. computer science & technologies. Also because of the three-semester system that is in place at Hudson College, you're able to have a flexible semester and balance the workload throughout the year. Because of all of these things, I truly believe that there is something for everyone at Hudson College.
