Here’s a great chance to enjoy every aspect of our beautiful campus--our waterfront, our yoga platforms, our vegetable farm, our chapel--and to create your own personal plan for staying healthy while at school--through being active and outside, developing strong friendships, eating and sleeping well.

This course enables students to examine the factors that influence their own health practices and behaviours as well as those factors that contribute to the development of healthy communities. It emphasizes the concept of wellness, which addresses all aspects of well-being – physical, cognitive, emotional, spiritual, and social – and promotes healthy eating, physical activity, and building and maintaining a positive sense of self. Students will develop the skills necessary to make healthy choices and create a personal wellness plan. They will also design initiatives that encourage others to lead healthy, active lives. The course prepares students for college programs in health sciences, fitness, wellness, and health promotion. Prerequisite: None

Our summer academy offers blended learning credit courses, with 2 weeks spent on our campus, and 2 weeks spent online to complete the credit.

While on campus, students engage in authentic learning experiences that advance them toward earning an Ontario Secondary School credit  during mornings, and choose from a wide array of traditional camp activities in the afternoon. The program is rounded out by afternoon and evening programming at our waterfront and on our beautiful rural campus.

Character Development:

  • Resilience: In both the academic and the athletic aspects of this program, students identify their strengths and passions and find ways of using both to advance their understanding, whether learning healthy habits or developing a physical skill. Teaching techniques foster personalized learning and growth.
  • Curiosity: Developing healthy habits builds resilience in almost every way. Through staying physically active in the outdoors, students will develop optimistic and positive ways to deal with stress. Learning solid nutrition and sleep habits, and ways to focus and stay calm, supports flourishing under stress.
