Shefa (pronounced Safe-ah): Continuing the progression of Junior Skills Zao (pronounced Zay-oh), we have three different adventures, all intertwined in God’s incredible creation to help us write the amazing story of Shefa! Campers will choose one of the following tracks to focus on in their time with us, but will also have a track mix-up time to try the other ones.
This camp is focused on the next step of horsemanship, canoeing (moving water) and artistic expression.
Ride 2021: Spend at least half your day at the barns, this program will focus on working with horses through groundwork, training, and theory. The other half-days will focus on mounted riding skills including control, correct positioning, training techniques and taking your horse further both in the arena and on trail rides.
Paddle 2021: Discover amazing community and adventure as you learn to paddle a tandem (2-person) canoe, first on Crimson Lake, then on the Mighty North Saskatchewan River. Through mountains and valleys, rapids and eddies, experience the thrill of moving water paddling with old and new friends in this exciting stream (pun intended!).
Zoom 2021: This is a fine arts experience (photography, painting, sketching) like no other! The Visual Arts are the tools on this quest to capture the beauty and reality of life around us. Zoom is all about taking time to stop and focus in on a particular fine arts skill or piece of creation, to notice details and to capture them in a visual medium as a way of story-telling. Days are spent exploring and honing the various techniques of photography, painting and sketching. Evenings are spent sharing work, stories and laughter.
Available in 2022: Rhythm: Pioneer’s newest adventure into the world of music starts here with a week of creative sharing through song. Campers are invited to bring their voices to create a unique ensemble with our skilled track conductor. They will have 4 days to learn, practice, create and prepare with the week culminating in an opportunity to share their collective creation with the rest of Shefa. Rhythm will help the campers hone their creative vocal and musical skills.
The fun continues with wide games, swimming, a chance to try the climbing wall, archery range or canoeing, all while focusing on spiritual development as we seek God’s character revealed to us in creation, Bible study and each other. There will be an overnight camp-out on the land, and lots of learning. Whichever track you choose, Shefa is an adventure in living fully, facing challenges and truly loving. Shefa means to live abundantly!
