The administration is very involved and connected with the students. Communication is open and abundant, and there are many opportunities to easily approach the admin with issues or concerns. The Principal's spirituality is very encouraging to the students, and his relationship with them is friendly and respectful. As the coach of the girls' soccer team, one of the vice-principals is very connected to the students and takes good care of them.
The leadership at TDCH is commendable. Every child here is loved, no matter what. They are sought and given opportunities to improve. They are admonished and given correction. There were a few instances when my teenagers needed reproof and correction and guidance and and we are thankful they were stopped in their paths and corrected. TDCH surely has been a positive school environment for my children as they always were happy to go to school. TDCH keeps the communication open with parents for the most part - maybe this is an area to work on, just a little bit more.
The principal, vice principals and teachers always respond to my emails and phone calls. I have always appreciated this. My experience with the school and the teachers has been very positive. The ongoing expansion of the school will only improve the learning experience for the future students. Both my kids have had positive experiences at TD Christian. The school also has an excellent online resource for parents to access grades and for students to monitor the work. The school has addressed current social issues in a manner which I think is very effective. School assemblies have most recently discussed consequences of smoking cigarettes or vaping - the strict policy on these matters is really important to me, and I really appreciate this about TD Christian.
When I think about school leadership and administration, I feel that they have a sense of personal ownership in the success of the students. This starts with the Board of Directors and extends to Mr. Groot as principal. His passion to see students success is contagious and extends to the staff. There are many examples on how the staff addresses issues, but I wanted to focus on one. A few weeks ago, the school decided to address the issue of substance abuse and specifically related to vaping. Mr. Groot used the opportunity to communicate in multiple ways. First, the leadership spoke to it at the weekly assembly and then, sent a very lengthy communication that not only spoke to the consequences, but also made everyone aware of help that can be sought, both in school and the community. This was a prime example of handling a societal issue head on.
The school has an excellent online resource for parents to check marks, home work, and even attendance. School buses also have an online resource, so we can monitor the location of the bus every morning. The vice principles are always around and easy to connect with. They always reply to my e-mails and phone calls, and when we visit the school, they always greet us. We came from another private school where communication was not so easy.
