The admission process is wonderfully stress-free and easy. The staff are fabulous at introducing all of the aspects of the school and took all the time I needed to see if it was the right fit for my daughter. We were in contact with the Admissions Officer several times during our inquiries and he was very patient and understanding of our daughter's needs where high school was concerned. He was able to identify her interests and advise her of aspects of the school that she would find interesting. He took time to introduce her to some of the teachers and to some of the students from her areas of interest and her home town. The discussion of her personal concerns and desires for her high school years was key to making her feel like TD was the right choice for her.
The first time my husband went into the school during the school day, he could not believe how quiet the corridors were, all the kids were in class. This was one of the reasons that helped us choose this school for our kids. We had a meeting with the vice principal who explained the school policies and again, was very welcoming. Knowing that it is a faith-based school was very important to our family. The admissions process was easy. I would not change it, I think it is important to meet the staff before your kids start school. Go to the school and walk around and make your own decision, just as we did. I would encourage other families to make a visit to the school. Having a child enjoy going to school, and getting a great overall academic and extra-curricular experience is very important. I would not change our decision about my kids attending TD Christian.
TDCH has several open houses during the school year, when the community can check out the insides of the school. It is basically geared for incoming grade 9 students. The application and admission processes were pretty simple and straightforward. The school takes every effort to honor every application that comes through. The parents and the family of the 'new' applicant go through an 'interview' or 'getting to know you' process. This is an opportunity where parents can get their questions answered. And an opportunity for the school admin to meet the family. The families take this very seriously, we were happy and blessed with this opportunity to spend some time face to face with the school authorities. I wonder if there is room to include more people in this panel - maybe an academic and athletic representative as well, so families get to see more faces and talk to more people.
The admission process was easy and straight forward. Before our decision was made, we came to TD Christian for an open house and had our son tour the school and meet some teachers. During the open house we felt very welcomed by the school and our tour guide was really nice and answered all our questions. A couple weeks later we mailed our application and scheduled school interview. We had an appointment with the principle and vice principle and got all details about the curriculum and school life. We then had a second tour around the school. After the interview our son was accepted. The application package, including a welcome letter, was mailed to us and an interview for testing was scheduled. We are very happy with our decision.
I was very surprised on how easy the admission process was. VP Pattie Schuurman in the office went above and beyond to respond to all of our questions. We started with the application form which not only included the typical items (i.e. name, address etc,), but had questions on getting to know my child. There was an in-person interview with the Principal and Vice Principal as well. Our son was very nervous going into it, but they knew exactly how to make him comfortable. The communication was always clear as to what forms were expected along with when. The school would follow up by phone or email to see how we were progressing and if we had any questions. We loved the open houses and they were definitely a positive way to make us feel welcome and assured of our choice.
