Our son has truly enjoyed his senior year at Caronport High School! The classes are challenging. The teachers are exceptional! He has had the opportunity to take a college class as well. Our son played on the football team and is on the intramural hockey team. He also lives in the dorms. This has helped him to make new friends and engage in activities that he enjoys. Caronport High School offers many opportunities for students during the after-school hours such as attending athletic events, dances, and the Cheesecake Café to name a few. Caronport is a very small town without a lot of amenities, but the city of Moose Jaw is only a short drive away.
The school administration keeps us informed of upcoming events and any concerns. We have been pleased with the timeliness of information.
The teachers at Caronport High School seem to be very passionate about the subjects they teach. My son enjoys the instructors and the classes at the school. The staff provides parental access to my child's grades, so that we know if there are any issues that need to be addressed.
Caronport High School offers many extracurricular activities: athletics, intramurals, special events, and Christian learning opportunities. There is a balance between competitive activities and activities that are just for fun. The school has a positive atmosphere.
Caronport High School offers challenging classes and meets the requirements for high school graduation in Saskatchewan. Although there are no Advanced Placement classes, students can enroll in classes at Briercrest College. The only complaint we have is that there are no foreign language classes offered. Caronport High School has strong academics and a positive school climate. We believe that CHS is adequately preparing our son for university.
Caronport High School is a smaller school than the one our son attended in grades 9 - 11. I think that the smaller class size has helped our son to get to know the other students. The atmosphere of the student body seems to be an inclusive and positive one. The students that we have met appear to be very respectful.
Our son really enjoys going to Caronport High School! He loves living in the dorms and the friends that he has made at CHS. The school has a very positive feel to it. The student body supports one another by attending athletic events.
We live over eight hours away from the school, so we have not been involved in the life of the school as much as we would like to be. We are kept in the loop by texting and e-mailing our son and by receiving e-mails from the school.
The town of Caronport is very small, so students tend to stay on campus. During the evening hours and on weekends, the students are able to take their personal vehicles and go to the cities of Moose Jaw or Regina. We feel that Caronport is a very safe community for our son.
The admissions process seemed to be very easy. The problems we experienced were not with Caronport High School, but with the school that our son previously attended. The admissions officers were very helpful and met with us prior to the school year to give our son a tour of the campus.
We haven't received a lot of information personally about the university counselling program. We have not been able to attend parent-teacher conferences due to the great distance from our home to Caronport. Our son is hoping to play on a hockey team before attending university, so the urgency to apply for university admission is not as great as it is for other seniors.
