Nothing is swept under the carpet at APA - the students and the staff all have a voice that is respectfully heard and then addressed immediately and fairly. The staff and administration live by the same principles expected of the students. Expectations are clear and consistent. There are no exceptions and all of the students (my son included) seem to love the simplicity of being completely aware of the rules & what is not acceptable. It's been incredibly refreshing to implement some of these disciplines at home!
Great school leaders know they have to work as a team. At APA the principals empower teachers. They encourage and motivate. They all work together. They respond to problems timely and appropriately, fostering a positive school environment. Rules and expectations of students and staff are clear. The school communicates effectively and clearly with students and parents in any matter, and fairly. Everyone is cooperative, respectful, and helpful towards teachers, peers and parents. We can not be happier how well everone is treated.
Our two principals, Mrs. Vissers and Mr. Consentino are the greatest. They are strict but in a good way and have a perfect balance of fun and freedom. The teachers are great. One thing they are very good at is having an amazing relationship with the students here, we talk about personal matter without even realizing it, thats how close I am with my teachers. I adore that type of relationship and think it will benefit me in the future to help learn how to respect adults and elders.
Whenever I have had a concern my issues are dealt with very swiftly. I have met with the Principal during the summer months when I had concerns about the upcoming school year. My worries have always been taken seriously and workable solutions have always been presented. I have not been involved in any discipline issues. I know that they are very aware of issues that are happening at the school. Not much goes unnoticed. The administration is not afraid to deal with issues head on. They wonderful culture at the school is a testament to that.
My daughter before she joined APA was scared to play sports, enter talent shows, play an instrument. This all changed for her after she was in the right atmosphere of care, guidance and amazing dedicated teachers and Principals. My daughter learned to read music, was in the school band at APA, was part of the volleyball and basketball team as well as in the school play. Now this all after being too afraid to do any of these at the end of grade 6 when I moved her. She is now in the school of the arts with her confidence flying high because of the dedication of an amazing school like APA.
