Currently scheduled online, Camp SLI offers students in Grades 1 - 6 an enriched learning experience in core curriculum subjects, integrated with instruction in relevant STEM topics that are selected each year by our experienced curriculum development team. This year, campers will learn how they can use English, French, Math, and Research skills to bridge creative writing and profit, to build and present an informed opinion, to budget and invest wisely, as well as to extend their knowledge to learn the ABCs of widely used programming tools that have become essential in every industry. With our 2-week sessions, campers in our Grades 1 - 6 will not only get to progress in their curriculum subjects (English, French, and Math) for an advantage before the next academic year, but they will also amaze themselves with how much fun they can have exploring advanced STEM subjects that are broken down to engage their grade level. Running for four 2-week morning sessions, from July 5th to August 27th (9:00 am to 12:00 pm), the SLI Summer Camp offers academic instruction in curriculum Math, English, and French, as well as an introduction to Short Story Publishing, Debate based on Current Events Research, Financial Literacy (Personal Budgeting, Entrepreneurship, and Investments) and Computer Science (Data Analysis using Python Programming and template-based Website Development). Every two weeks, continuing participants will get to build on their published story collection, entrepreneurial ventures, and financial portfolios started in earlier weeks, while preparing to take a position to debate a current events topic for every session. Students enrolled for the morning session will have the option of selecting an extended afternoon session (from 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm) for enrichment or remedial core math and English subjects (the extended online afternoon session is not available for the hybrid option - please contact the camp director for availability and pricing). In the event that on-site programming resumes, online participants will be given priority in the option to upgrade to the on-site full-day program (9:00 am - 3:00 pm); the on-site program includes an additional afternoon schedule of indoor and outdoor activities such as team games, hiking, drama, and art. (limited to 12 students online or 7 students on-site)
