Centauri Summer Arts Camp turned 25 this past summer – and celebrated in style! Dozens of camper- and staff- alumni attended a special anniversary concert at camp which featured Countermeasure – a band comprising ex-campers and staff. Celebrations included a huge BBQ and a gorgeous cake created by the camp chefs that was big enough to feed 200 people! Bedtime program for the campers included a reprise of emotional camp traditions, songs and stories going back 25 years. A tree was planted in honour of the founding directors, and a donation made to the David Suzuki Foundation. The camp was inundated with messages from people all over the world who credit the camp for helping them launch arts careers – and develop the confidence to be the best they can be. “Centauri was my home away from home. My refuge, my community, a place to love the arts and a place where magic genuinely existed. Centauri has given me my fondest memories, my closest friends, pivotal growing-up moments and the 11 most important summers of my life.” – Kinley M.
