The approaching summer is a chance to relax and unwind after a challenging fall, winter and spring of COVID restrictions. What better way to relax than by going for a bike ride? However, especially for the youth, bicycling can be full of danger including the risks of falls, the concerns with automobile traffic or finding their way to their desired destination.
Safer Cycling Calgary, a local business celebrating 10 years of operation, can help: the Intermediate Kids Summer School/camp is designed to teach those age 9-15 who already know how to ride a bike how to be better, safer cyclists. Participants will learn the rules of the road, flat tire repair, route planning, how to deal with train tracks, etiquette for riding on pathways as well as handling skills along with practical knowledge and experience to ride on residential roads. The skills gained in this 5 day program will stay with participants for life, significantly improving their cycling ability as well as reducing their risk of injury.
Education doesn't have to be boring: participants will use their bike for transportation to get to places such as Fish Creek Park, Variety Splash Park and My Favorite Ice Cream Shoppe: the ice cream is even included in the registration fee! Every camp is led by a Certified Cycling Instructor and accompanied by an Assistant Cycling Instructor.
Is this the summer your child learns how to use their bike for transportation while having lots of fun? Contact Safer Cycling Calgary today to register.
