The Our Kids review of Bayview Glen Camp

    our take

Bayview Glen provides a range of programming to appeal to a range of ages and interests, from sports to arts, with electives to underscore the need for challenge by choice. There is attention to the whole child, ensuring that minds are as active as bodies. The facilities are first rate, with both indoor and outdoor spaces. For parents, the transportation and food service, included in the cost of enrollment, are a welcome bonus.

    Director's Message

    Daniel Garfinkel, Camp Director

    Dear Friends,

We are thrilled that you are considering Bayview Glen Camp for Summer 2024!  Bayview Glen Camp is truly "EVERYONE'S CAMP!" We provide inclusive and diverse camp offerings for campers between the ages of 4-16. Most exciting, is that we offer single-week registrations throughout the Summer that allow you to be extremely flexible with your camp package. Mutli-Week discounts are applied beginning with the 2nd week of a registration package.

    Our Camping Philosophy

Our priority at Bayview Glen is to provide our campers with the safest possible environment for them to learn more about themselves and grow as individuals. We know that a well-structured camp program can be an integral experience that shapes the confidence and individuality of youth of all ages!

    Our Camp Program

Our youngest campers (Wildling Age Group JK - Grade 1) have an extremely diversified camp schedule each day that leads them through activities such as cooking, arts n' crafts, martial arts, sports, water-play, music, and so much more. Wildling campers also participate in a "mini-mastermind" program after lunch each day that has been specifically created to build their reading, writing, and math skills. Each day ends with a high energy outdoor Music Fest concert where campers get to sing their favourite camp songs!

Our older campers (Trailblazers Gr. 2 - 4 and Mavericks Gr. 5 - 7) have more of an opportunity to "choose their own adventure" when selecting their daily schedule. This is done by selecting a half-day specialty camp. Specialty camp options include Visual Arts, Basketball, Soccer, Robotics, Coding, Magic, and even off-site programs such as Sailing and Lake Days/Watersports Camps. The other half of their day is spent rotating between a diverse selection of camp activities to ensure each camper receives a well rounded camp experience each day!

    Our Site

Being one of the few camps located in the heart of Toronto that is able to offer ample outdoor and greenspace we ensure our campers have plenty of time outdoors each day. Our outdoor facilities include a wooded ravine area, full-sized turf soccer field, 2 playgrounds, sandboxes, a gaga ball pit, and more! On hot days (and during indoor specialty camp activities) campers are able to take advantage of all of Bayview Glen Private School's facilities including air-conditioned classrooms, art studios, full-sized theatre, robotics lab, cafeteria, and 2 full-sized gymnasiums.

Our early bird registration begins in the first week of October and our on-line registration system has proven to be a convenient, efficient, accurate and environmentally friendly way of registration. We look forward to answering any questions that you may have  to help you make the most educated decision regarding your child’s upcoming summer.

We truly hope that we will have the privilege of spending Summer of 2022 with your family!

    Most sincerely yours in camping,

    Daniel Garfinkel

    Camp Director

    • It Takes More Than a Day...Bayview Glen Day Camp

      Come Grow With Us

It takes the experience of one of Toronto’s most comprehensive, longest-running summer camps, Bayview Glen Camp. For 60 summers, we’ve been the reason why thousands of Toronto children and their families count the days until July. Many of our campers have grown up with Bayview Glen and return to us again and again; sometimes even as counsellors and, eventually, as parents of new campers. In fact, readers of City Parent have voted us the city’s Best Co-Ed Day Camp (more than once)!

      It Takes a Tradition

Bayview Glen Camp has created unforgettable memories for thousands of boys and girls since 1962. Our philosophy is part of the secret to our success. We see each child as an individual, giving them many opportunities to grow and express themselves. Our diverse, well-balanced program helps campers build confidence, make friends, learn new skills and fully explore their world. We encourage campers to do things for themselves and for others, because we believe it’s the best way for them to learn and grow.

      It Takes a Community

Every season, Bayview Glen Camp welcomes  families from the Greater Toronto Area, including hundreds of returning campers. To take extra-special care of them in the Bayview Glen way, we carefully hand-pick experienced staff from over 1,500 candidates we interview each year. Including counsellors, specialists, supervisors and nurses, our 1:6 staff-to-camper ratio is exceptionally high. This ensures that, while it is often exciting, camp is always safe for campers.

      It Takes a Lifetime

Bayview Glen Camp’s age-specific units range from enriched, balanced programs for our youngest campers to activity electives and special programs that give older campers plenty to choose from as their tastes broaden. From our Wildling program starting at age 4 to our Leadership Training for teens, Bayview Glen’s programs adapt to all ages and needs. There’s something new to look forward to every summer including more great times to share with new friends and friends you’ve known forever.

It Takes Each Child as an Individual

Every child is different: some enjoy the arts, some prefer sports and most like a bit of everything. We balance activities for body and mind, and our electives and programs recognize the uniqueness in everyone. We’re proud of our rewarding Inclusion Program that integrates children with exceptionalities. All our campers enjoy the same safe, inclusive, creative and energetic camp experience and... Bayview Glen Camp continually reinvents itself to ensure that each summer is fresh and exciting.

      It Takes a Special Place

The secure, leafy campus of Bayview Glen School gives our camp a country environment, centrally placed in the heart of the city. It also gives us all-day access to a wealth of facilities including a full-sized turf soccer field, air-conditioned gymnasiums, a 350-seat theatre, cafeteria, art studios and our cool classroom “cabins”. Two large, tree-shaded decks overlooking the 40-acres of conservation parkland are favourite settings for any activity and barbecues.

      It Takes the Great Outdoors

Nature is key at Bayview Glen Camp. Every day, it’s right up-close in the wonders of the ravine and the sound of birds and rustling leaves in “our” forest. We help campers experience the great outdoors as an adventure, inspiring them to respect nature as they do.

And, Of Course, It Takes Each Day, and Makes it Unforgettable

Each day begins and ends with fun starting with drop-off or community-based bus bus service options. Small - and staffed by counsellors – our buses have personalities. Campers and staff throw themselves into decorations and camp cheers. This makes Bayview Glen buses easy to identify all summer long! Between activities, there’s a freshly-prepared lunch in our air-conditioned lunch rooms, snacks twice daily plus surprise picnics and barbecues. Offering the foods kids love ensures that campers have the fuel they need for their high-energy day.

Come Grown With Us...Bayview Glen Camp

For the whole summer or just for a part of it, Bayview Glen offers you an experience that will always make you smile. We’d be happy to answer your questions – and even happier to welcome you to our extended Bayview Glen Camp family. Some of our units fill up as early as November, so please plan early. We hope to see you soon!
