Online Spring Break Debate Camp

DEBATE EDUCATION

For today's youth, skills in parliamentary debate help to develop critical thinking, advocacy, listening to alternate points of view and speaking well.  Debate Camp has been engaged in this since 2002 - and will now offer our program to small groups of online participants.

INTERACTIVE WORKSHOPS

Online debate workshops are designed in a fun, interactive way. Participants develop debate skills via opportunities to work together, share thinking and debate twice in each session. ​ 

TEAMWORK

Online participants co-develop cases, debate as a team and receive feedback together; often as a side - pointing out strengths of argumentation and delivery.

SUPPORTIVE ENVIRONMENT

Our online program is a supportive place, with lots of encouragement available for those who are trying new things.  Participants are coached to honour what is being said by their opponents and welcome the efforts of others, even in competition. 

ABILITY LEVELS

All online debate partnerships and speakers opposite are grouped at an experience level that ensures the right level of challenge:

OPEN

• brand new to debate
• typical grades 4 to 6
• possible reluctant speaker ​

PLUS

• familiar with debate
• typical grades 6 to 9
• less reluctant speaker ​

LEVEL-UP 

• experienced with debate
• typical grades 8 to 10
• accomplished speaker
