(5) Student Experience
Virtual High School is a amazing online private school that has all of its class work online right at you disposal for anytime you want to work. Virtual High School allows students the opportunity to create their own pace as to how fast or how slow they want to finish the course. In my experience so far there is nothing that I would wish to change about the school, but the one thing I wish I knew before I started was the free tutoring. I had always been worried that there might be questions I don't know and that I would have to wait a while before the teacher could answer their email, but with the free tutoring I can get help with answering my questions with the press of a button.
(5) School Leadership
I respect the principal, guidance counsellors, teachers, and other staff tremendously as they do everything in their power to make sure that my needs and goals are accommodated in a proper manner. The reason that I switched to Virtual High School was because of my anxiety, and everyone that works at the school makes me feel that I am cared about and a part of the community which is something that really helps me continue to thrive. There was one semester where I was getting overwhelmed with work, and the amazing staff at the school helped switch me to an easier class with no cost, and that made me be able to continue to finish the work without stressing.
(4.5) Teaching
With almost every assignment that I have ever done there is a rubric that allows me to know exactly what the teacher is expecting me to do, and what I have to do to get the best marks possible. The rubric will state the expectations which are always reasonable in a matter that I can understand what I am supposed to do. At Virtual High school all the teachers that I have encountered have always fairly marked my work in coordination with the rubric they have given, often the teachers will talk about success, and I think that the way they imagine that for any student, is for the student to gain knowledge of the subject at hand and be able to learn new things along the way.
(5) Academics
In my opinion the work that the school has is just right. The work allows me to challenge myself to find the right answer, but is also easy enough that it wont take me hours to figure out the right answer. Everything in the course curriculum is to the provincial standards which allows me to know that I am getting the proper education. The learning that I do at Virtual High School is something that will certainly be useful in my later life. Throughout the courses that I have taken I have learned important things from how to create a resume to how to do CPR. Both of these things will render very useful to me later in life when the time comes to use them.
(5) School Life
If I were asked to give a tour of the school to a group of visitors I would take them to the website first as Virtual High school is a completely online school. Everything from the course content to the exam is done online in a secure manner where all you information is safe. Once you register the school gives you your own school email where you can email teachers and other classmates if you have any questions. The homepage with all of your courses shows you everything you need to know including school updates and graded assignments. The school does have a main office where many of the administrative staff work where you can mail, call, or email questions you have and they will promptly get back to you as I have had first had experience with.
(5) Admissions
The admissions process for the school was very simple as anyone from anywhere can become a student. Unlike many other private schools there is no testing involved in the admissions process, which allows for less stress when applying. There are very little things that are needed for applying with them being your name, email, address, last school attended, and what classes you want to take. When doing my own application I found it to be very simple and straightforward, with the courses I chose becoming available in the next 24 hours. My advice for someone planning on applying for admission would be to make sure you have all you personal information ready, and make sure that you are picking the correct courses as many of them have similar letters and numbers.
